Weekly Wrap Up–Anniversary Week

My husband and I celebrated our 14th anniversary on Tuesday  We knew the week would be hectic, so we went out to dinner on Sunday so that we wouldn’t have to squeeze it in on Tuesday night.    Below is one of my favorite wedding photos.   I often wonder just what happened, or what was said that evoked these expressions.

We finally had decent weather and were able to finish up our solar oven project.   While I’m sure there are those who enjoy this lovely way to cook, I’ll stick with my gas range, or fire pit it you don’t mind.

We finished up science, and writing this week.   Only a few more lessons in math and we’re finished for the year!

Olivia had her first work days in the Indian Village.  I was happy to hear from the interpreters that they were very impressed with her work ethic, her physical strength and her ability to work well with varying age groups on site.  (Socialization, ha!)   In addition to giving tours to school field trips she's helped dig the garden, work on the dugout canoe, carry logs to build the new longhouse and help process deer rawhide. She has already asked if she can work longer days at the Village, grins.

I finally got around to getting Lindsey started with her sewing machine.   Once we got the machine out of the box (yes, really) and set up she worked on sewing straight lines.   I gave her a piece of lined notebook paper and had her practice sewing along each line.  This worked well, and by the end of the day she was sewing straight lines pretty consistently.

Ballet is gearing up for the spring recital, which falls on both days of Mother’s Day weekend.   Olivia has been filling in for missing dancers in a few classes, so she’s danced every day this week.  Tomorrow both girls are performing at a benefit for the Cinderella Project.   Regular ballet will continue through mid-May.  Then starting June 1 if’s summer intensive for 4 weeks.

Our temperatures bottomed out tonight and we’re under freeze warning.  Now I’m glad that I hadn’t planted anything in my garden.  The tulips will most likely perish, but there’s no way I can cover all the flowers that have come up in the last two weeks.

How has your week been?

Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up and Collage Friday.

  1. What a great idea. I am getting my kids going with the sewing machine in a few days. I will have to use that notebook paper idea.
