Weekly Wrap Up - The One With the Gas Crisis

The weekend was busy and I won't even try to recap all the running I did.  It was exhausting at best.  Olivia added house/dog sitting to her routine from Saturday May 8 through May 17.  She worked her regular schedule and then spent her time between shifts, and  her nights at the other house with the dogs.

Monday started out with me picking Olivia up at 7am to get her to the equestrian center by 7:30am.  Lindsey didn't have anywhere to be.  Once she finished her regular school work, we knocked out her year end testing.  Around 11am, Olivia texted to let me know that there'd been a health issue at farm #1 and she was being asked to cover the 6am shift this week and wanted to know if we could make that work.  I once again worked out a new schedule for the week.  I dropped Olivia off at her house sitting job around 2:30pm and then headed home for the evening.  I stopped on the way home to fill up the Jeep for the week, this ended up being a wise move on my part.  Lindsey and I watched a little tv, and I turned in very early.

Tuesday morning, I picked Olivia up at 5:30am.  We did the 6am shift, then left there and went straight to her 7:30am job, arriving with plenty of time to spare.  I'm glad things are laid out in a way that we don't have to back track.  I picked her back up at 2pm and dropped her off at her new home for the week. He boss texted and asked if we could continue to cover mornings until further notice.  Lindsey went to work at 7:30am and didn't get home until 5:30pm.   During the day I was able to get a few things checked off my to do list.  I took the year end testing to the UPS store to have it sent back for grading.  The company required it be send traceable and insured due to the USPS losing so many items, so I decided to go with UPS.  I also stopped by the court house to drop off some papers and a few other quick errands.  By mid-day the "gas shortage panic" hit our community and there was a run on the gas stations.  By the time I took Lindsey to jiu-jitsu at 6:30pm, most of our stations were sold out.

Wednesday I picked Olivia up at 5:30am and we went to farm #1, then farm #2 before dropping her off at the equestrian center.   Lindsey worked on her school work early, and was done before she left for work.  She worked 8:30-12:30.  She went with me to pick Olivia up from work and then we went to look at a vehicle with Olivia.  I grabbed Olivia a sub for dinner and dropped her off for the night.  Lindsey and I grabbed subs on the way back home.

Thursday was a repeat starting at 5:30am with everyone getting to their various work places.  I went grocery shopping and ran errands before having to start the pick up schedule.  Olivia and I went back to look at the vehicle from Wednesday and she test drove it and liked it, but wasn't ready to pull the trigger on buying it without having time to think.  Lindsey went to jiu-jitsu in the evening and we both went to bed earlier.

Friday morning on the way to get Olivia the Jeep went wonky.  Thankfully, I was not too far from home and was able to limp back home and get the van.  (Ironically, I'd refilled the Jeep with gas Thursday evening....sigh.)  We were a few minutes late to that first farm, but the horses were forgiving of the tardiness.  We did the 2nd farm, then I dropped her off at the equestrian center.  Then it was home to get the Jeep to the garage by 8 when it opened.  Unfortunately, it was out of their realm of work, so we had to take it to a second place and leave it.  The early prognosis is that the computer went out.  The rest of the day was equally stressful.  I had to drop Lindsey off at 1:30, pick Olivia up at 2, drop Tom off at work and get to the car dealership at 2:30 for Olivia to make the biggest cash purchase of her 18 years.

I picked up Lindsey at 3:30 and then dropped off the van at work for the husband (this saved me from having to go pick him up at midnight).  Then I dropped Olivia off and drove her car home for the night. We grabbed a cheap pizza and collapsed in front of the tv for the evening.

Lots of running, and I know some of you would say there's no way you'd do all that. However, the effort on my part has been well worth it to see my girl get to where she is.  Tired, yes.  Regrets, no.

Have a good weekend!

  2. It is an exhausting schedule that you have, but I get it. My ear is probably going to be similar next year.
