Weekly Wrap Up - New Job and New Skills

We've had another full week here.  My husband got a promotion at work and started his new job on Monday.  He's really enjoying the new department that he's in, and the folks he's working with.  His stress level has gone down drastically, and that's a good thing.

Lindsey's babysitting service has picked up another weekly child for Thursdays.   She'll be adding that child to her schedule as soon as the mom gets all her paperwork and certification approved for her new job as a virtual teacher out of state.

Olivia spent some extra time at farm #3 this week.  In addition to taking care of the cows and horses, she learned to catch chickens and rope cattle this week.  She is developing an interesting skill set for sure.

I had to go to the DMV this week to get my new "Real ID" driver's license.  Getting an appointment took months, but the process itself was really streamlined.  I was in and out in 30 minutes, which is typically unheard of.  Only six people are allowed in at a time.  Three people are being helped at the counter, and the other three sit in chairs in opposite walls of the room, waiting for a spot at the counter.  My new license should be here within 30 days, but with our mail as wonky as it's been lately, I'm skeptical.  They voided my old license and gave me a piece of paper to carry until the new one arrives.  I was able to pick up a Learner's Permit book for Lindsey to start studying for her upcoming test.

Lindsey had a hair appointment scheduled for Friday morning. She's spent all week doubling up on school work and getting ahead so she could have the day off.  30 minutes before her appointment, the salon texted to say the hair stylist wasn't feeling well and could we reschedule to Monday.  We agreed, thinking it was a possible Covid-19 situation, but with the reschedule day of Monday, I had to ask for clarification.  The answer they texted back "women's problems".  Lindsey is crabby now, and there you have it, the first documented transmission of "women's problems".  Snicker.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Ian's license arrived the very day his temporary paper one expired; it was so nerve wracking waiting for it to come in in the mail! Now that he has it though we can renew and get our "real ID" licenses at a few local AAA offices. It's a $5 fee but so worth it not to have to deal with the MDV

  2. I took my son to the DMV last week to get his permit, and we were in and out in 20 minutes! It's really unheard of here. It's usually an hours long ordeal. We didn't have to make an appointment though!

  3. I need to make an appointment for my real ID too. Sounds like a dream at DMV right now. I guess I will get on that task.

  4. Sometimes I am happy with some of the social distancing aspects because you make appointments and get in and out, but other things I don't like! I hope your license comes in time! The mail has been sooo horrible lately.
