After living here for 4 years, we finally managed to get our schedules arranged so we could take advantage of some of the July 4th festivities held here. (We still didn’t get to stay for the music or carnival, but by golly next year we are no matter who has what scheduled that day!) We walked down to the park to watch the parade. We didn’t carry our chairs but rather made use of some of the downed trees from the storm earlier in the week.
We had to explain to the family across from us that they shouldn’t take our lead, as the tree they were about to camp out on was covered in poison oak. They still don’t look convinced, do they?
There were lots of old cars, floats, military men and women and animals…and some of the cutest kids ever!
This is the girls favorite, the original Woodrow Wilson Presidential Limo.
Our brave troops, receiving a standing ovation.
We wrapped up the day with a family cookout. The girls, and their cousin Harlie entertained us all with the wild dance of the sparklers…it was better in person, my photos are poor.
What fun activities do you and your family enjoy for July 4th?
