Fall is here and we have crisp autumn days, changing leaves and the stare of extra curricular activities. Some years we ease into activities, but this year it all managed to hit on the same week. Ballet and tap are Tuesdays/Thursdays. Wednesday is choir and Awana and Friday we have co-op. It’s gone surprisingly well, and nobody (especially me) seems to be stressed out.
Monday we covered a lot of ground. We did some review work since we were off for a week. We also finished up our nutrition unit study and Olivia started her new DVD based piano curriculum from Legacy Learn & Master. Olivia has taken piano lessons for 2 year now with a private instructor, but the first DVD is already teaching her things she didn’t know. The only downfall is she says the instructor is too chatty. By 3:00pm we had the house cleaned and we headed outside to spend much needed time in the sunshine.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were typical days with the exception of adding in the evening activities. The girls are excited about choir and are already getting ready for their Christmas concert. Awana went wonderful. I’m teaching the kindergarten girls class again this year. Ballet is already in Nutcracker mode as we gear up for role announcement and costume fittings next week.
Today was our first day of co-op. I’ll be honest and say I was a little nervous about it, to the point I didn’t sleep well last night. I was second guessing my decision to give it another try. However, I’m thrilled to say that it was a wonderful day. Olivia flat out loves her classes, especially the math and IEW classes. Lindsey of course is such a social butterfly, she’s happy anywhere.
Both girls are doing really well with their school work this year. Olivia is really plowing ahead in math. Lindsey seems to be the strongest in reading and writing skills.
Interestingly enough, now that the extra’s have started I realize that I’ll have 1 hour 45 minutes of free time on Tuesday (tap/ballet), 1 hour 15 minutes free on Thursday (ballet) and 5 hours of free time on Friday (co-op). So I need to work up a list of things to do.
I hope everyone else had a great week. Be sure to visit the Weekly Wrap Up and wish Megan a happy birthday!
