I’m running really late on my wrap up this week. I almost didn’t do a wrap up, because secretly I wonder if anyone really reads them? But I decided to throw it together after all.
We’ve spent the week once again focusing on our core subjects of language arts and math.
Language Arts: Olivia has moved into creative writing and using adjectives and adverbs to make her writing more interesting. It coincides wonderfully with her IEW class at co-op. Lindsey is learning more spelling rules, and about adding prefixes and suffixes.
Math: Olivia was working more with metric measurements this week. It wasn’t without bumps, but I' thinks she’s gotten a grasp (loose though it may be) on the subject. Lindsey continues to use Math Mammoth and work through telling time. We had a total relapse early in the week, but jumped ahead by the end of the week.
We completed out second month of co-op. The girls are really enjoying it so much, but my goodness they are totally exhausted by the end of the day. They are both working on the Presidential Physical Fitness in P.E.
Nutcracker madness continues to take up much of our weekends. The girls are so excited about the production, and are enjoying learning the longer, more involved dances.
Like most of the East Coast we’ve been trying to keep up with “Frankenstorm”. Although we aren’t close to the shore, we’re still expected to get 6 inches of rain, and high winds. We’ve secured all the loose, light items outside; cleared the gutters and implemented a diversionary dyke around the back patio to keep heavy rains from flooding the heat pump and the back door. (Our back yard slopes pretty steeply and runs directly downhill to our patio.) In the event of power outages we’re equipped to cook and stay warm with the woodstove and use candles. It’ll be VERY different than the power outage of this past summer during the heat wave.
If you are an area that is to take a direct hit from the storm, know that we and many others are praying for you and yours.
Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up.
I read your weekly wrap-ups EVERY week, even if I don't comment. I realize that not many people probably read my wrap-ups, but I just do it for myself to help me remember that we actually do accomplish something each week.
ReplyDeleteStay safe in this weather!
Oh thanks!! It's good to know that people really are reading along!
DeleteHave a great week!
I read your wrap ups as well. It's great to hear from people with kids around my daughter's age. Stay safe and dry during the storm. We have little risk here being smack in the middle of the country.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by Christy!! The rains have started here. Just over the mountain from us is a BLIZZARD WARNING! Crazy stuff going on!
