First, I’ll give you this weeks weather recap (insert eye roll). Sunday we had temperatures near 70. That afternoon we had a 20 degree temperature drop in less than an hour and the temperature continued to plummet overnight. Sometime around 4am freezing rain and heavy sleet set in. By midday on Monday we had about 6 inches of snow, which was MUCH better than the 15 inch prediction. Friday morning brought more ice and snow. On a positive note, it is SUPPOSED to be back in the 60’s by tomorrow.
In the midst of all the chaotic weather, my Christmas cactus got confused, and bloomed. Disregard the spider web in the flower, ahem.
Monday night Lindsey came up with an idea for a family activity. She drafted us all into being Secret Agents of Good. Each family member wrote their name on a piece of paper, and we drew names. Then for a week each of us has to do something nice for that person, in secret. Beds have been secretly made (and turned down), tiny trinkets left tucked under a pillow, and my favorite, this little note, cut from the pages of a magazine and left behind.
We finished up our 6 week unit on the Westward Expansion. This has been a fun unit, with lots of hands on activities. Not the least of which is the amazingly bright covered wagon, sure to get you attacked by marauding Indians while crossing the open plains.
Lindsey is working on a geometry unit in math. I spent a little time making her some visuals this week. My cylinder is sad at best.
Here are a few random pictures from our school this week.
Piano and Tuesday ballet and basketball were cancelled because of the weather. We did make it to Awana on Wednesday and ballet and cheer on Thursday, and ballet and youth on Friday.
Wrapping up with the Weekly Wrap Up and Collage Friday.
So ready to be done with the weather here, too!! We only got 3 inches instead of 14, so I was happy :). Love the covered wagons!
ReplyDeleteMy elderly neighbor says the snow is all my fault because I still have my "Let It Snow" flag up in the front of the house. I'd take it down, if I could get to it...really I would!
DeleteLove the secret agents of good. Such a great idea. If there were more than three people in our family I'd institute it today.
ReplyDeleteWith only 4 of us its pretty easy to figure out who's doing what, but it's still fun. You could do it differently by picking neighbors or relatives who don't live with you and let each of you pick one of their names.
DeleteWhat a lovely week. We are ready for the weather to settle down too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
It's 65 I gorgeous today...so the kids went fishing (in their snow boots because there's still a ton of snow on the ground).
DeleteLove the covered wagons! What a range of weather! Here in Ohio no sign of spring yet. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteYep and today it is mid 60's and the kids have gone fishing with their dad. They are wearing their snowboots, since there is still a lot of snow on the ground. Crazy stuff I tell ya!
DeleteBeing Secret Agents of Good is such a brilliant idea, what a lovely note!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a wonderful experience, both in the little acts of kindness, but also in the creativity of those act. Thanks for stopping by!
