Weekly Wrap Up–The Anniversary/Birthday Week

This has been a fun, full week.   Monday was our 13th wedding anniversary, so the husband had scheduled a day off.  We didn’t do anything fancy, but we did spend time Making Memories as a family.

We spent a couple of days driving to some of the nearby Civil War battlefields and museums as we studied the Bread Basket of the Confederacy.   Our six week unit study of the Civil War has taken on a life of it’s own as we continue to find our more information about local war era history.

All of the extra-curricular activities geared back up this week, after having been off for spring break.  Awana, ballet and co-op filled in gaps of time.  Ballet is now in spring recital mode, so it’s c.r.a.z.y.!

If you haven’t signed up yet for Kids Bowl Free, I highly recommend it!  We got at least once a week and have a blast!

In academics, we finished our last spelling list of the school year.   Lindsey completed her division unit in math and will be starting on fractions next week.  Olivia is still working through the remedial/review of advanced fractions.

For those of you who have been anxiously waiting to hear what we’re using next year, I finally finished the post 2014-2015 Curriculum Choices.

Olivia turned 11 today (Friday).   She wanted a sleepover for her birthday party.   Out of the 6 friends she invited, three said they were coming, but leaving early instead of sleeping over.  Disappointed doesn’t come close to describing how she feels, but she’ll live.   Hopefully I’ll have some good photos to share next week, since I have a really fun craft in mind.

Hoping you’ve had a great week!  If not, brush it off and start afresh next week!

Linking up with the Weekly Wrap up and Collage Friday.

  2. I wish we had free bowling here in England - it looks fun! I hope Olivia has a wonderful birthday. My 10 year old is always up for sleepovers and can't understand why several of her friends aren't ready to sleep over at a friend's house yet. I keep telling her they will get there!

    1. By the time the moms came to pick everyone up (at 10pm) they were all like "can we stay"...the moms all said "maybe next time". Now to clean up the carnage! Thanks for visiting.

  4. My kids love bowling. Our co-op even has a homeschool bowling league. As far as sleepover's go, people are really cautious with them nowadays. I know my kids have never done them, we always pick up early only because I prefer to sleep in late and have my kids home with me. Your daughter will have a better time with fewer kids.

    1. They had a wonderful time! You're right, less is better. To be honest, I've never let my kids sleep over anywhere either. I cringed when she asked to have a sleep over, but thought we'd give it a try. I'm glad to see Im not the only mom who is protective, but better safe than sorry. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I wish our local bowling center would do this! I just looked it up and requested that they contact them. Such fun!
Happy birthday to Olivia. My girls have only ever spent the night at 3 different friends' homes. And they're close friends of ours. And the girls are together, so that helps.
I'm glad she had a good time anyway.

    1. Thanks Stef! I wonder why bowling alleys are usually in the seedy side of town? Thankfully, ours is right on the main drag.
