Weekly Wrap Up–The One With a Birthday

Happy April everyone!   It’s hard to believe we’re in the 4th month of the year now, and the end of the homeschooling year is in sight.  Woohoo, right?

My brother, Nelson, came this past weekend to color Easter eggs with the girls.   This has been his tradition every year since the kids were born.    We try various egg coloring techniques, this year we just went with plain pastels.

We only worked on academics Monday –Wednesday.  We finally had a sunny, warm day and tried out our solar oven. Epic fail, as our egg turned into a rubbery, smelly mess. Will try again next week with a different pot.

Thursday was my birthday, and like any good homeschooling family, birthdays are holidays.   The girls made breakfast for me, and then we went on a road trip visiting McCormick Farm, Lee Chapel and the George Marshall Museum (all in Lexington, Virginia).  You can go on a tour of McCormick Farm in my blog post here, I’m still working on the other two posts.

My birthday breakfast was waffles with strawberries and whipped cream.  They went a LITTLE heavy on the whipped cream, but I’m good with that.

Today is of course Good Friday, and my husband’s company actually gives it to them as a paid holiday, so we’re off for family fun and adventure here in a bit.

I hope you’ve all had a good week.   I hope you all have time to stop and reflect on Jesus’ death and resurrection this weekend.    Just think, He overcame death, hell, sin, sickness and poverty with the shedding of His blood; and He did it all for YOU!

  1. Lucky for me, I always end school prior to my birthday. However, my kiddos usually work through their birthday since they tell me they get 'bored', lol! I'm visiting from Weekly Wrap Up!
