Weekly Wrap Up–Gardening and Relaxing

The girls and I have spent the week planting our garden, and working in the flower beds.   We still have two more flower beds to tidy up, and I’m hoping to get to that this weekend.

Our vegetable gardens look sparse at the moment, but give it a few weeks and they’ll be filling out nicely.   The first garden photo below has onions, big beef tomatoes, cabbage, collard greens, yellow crook neck squash, sunflowers and marigolds.

The photo below is the other garden bed.  This one has carrots, beets, black krim tomatoes, lettuce, endive, spinach, butternut squash and marigolds.

The photo below is looking from the top of the garden down towards the house.  On the right, in the middle of the photo is my overly productive horseradish.

My flower beds are doing well, and if you’re feeling adventurous you can head over to my other blog and see what Spring In Virginia looks like.  (Or at least what my yard looks like in spring.)

Olivia has worked several days at the Indian Village this week.   I’m going to have to be creative with our fall schedule to make sure she can get over there as often as can.  She has truly found something she loves.

Lindsey decided she needed some gadgets like a cell phone and laptop.  Since we don’t allow the kids to have such gadgets, she created her own with Legos.

She also made her own Lego coffee mug, because if you’re going to pretend to have your own office, you need to drink coffee while you do it.

This was our last week of ballet.  Well, it is, but the girls start back to intensives June 1, so in reality, we have a week off next week.   Exciting news, Olivia will be going en pointe next year!!  She’s thrilled at the thought of getting pointe shoes (she doesn’t realize how uncomfortable it is on the feet).   Daddy doesn’t realize how uncomfortable it will be on the wallet, ahem.

I hope you all have a good holiday weekend.  Remember that Memorial Day is to honor those who died in the military, not to thank those who are serving (that’s Veteran’s Day).

Wrapping up with the Weekly Wrap Up and Collage Friday.

  1. Your gardens look wonderful. My are in but a bit scattered in pots this year. I just couldn't get it completely together. Little Red Riding Hood just found out that she will be starting pointe next year as well. She is excited, but has heard stories from the older girls' so is nervous too.
    Blessings, Dawn
