Weekly Wrap Up - The Big 5-0!

The weekend was busy with spring yard work (and a pulled hamstring) on Saturday.  We watched "Twelfth Night" in the evening.  My poor husband doesn't really get Shakespeare (the language is the issue) so he didn't enjoy it very much, or understand what we were laughing at.  Sunday was of course church followed by a combined Easter/birthday dinner at our house.  We finally colored eggs after dinner.

On Monday I hit a milestone, the big 5-0!   Go me!!   I totally don't mind the number, but I somehow just don't feel that "old".    My best friend sent me a lovely edible arrangement and balloons.   See the pineapple 5-0 in the middle?

The husband took a vacation day from work and we went downtown to look at a display of local involvement in World War I.  Granted this was more for Olivia than for me, but it was still nice to roam around in the middle of the day.

We took advantage of Little Caesar's March madness boastful flub and all got a free lunch combo!
In the evening Lindsey had sewing class.   I sat and chilled with one of the other moms while she was in class.

Tuesday Lindsey and I were off super early to get to her early morning orthopaedic specialist to have her arm looked at.   The commute went MUCH faster than I'd thought, even with the crazy fog on the mountain.  The doctor said her arm is already pretty much healed, and he doesn't see any reason to do anything else at this point to help it along.  He's released her to return to regular activities, with pain being her indicator of when to back off.   We came home and got our lessons done for the day.  In the evening was the year end archery competition, and I'll tell you what, Lindsey had an amazing run on the first 5 rounds (25 arrows).  Between 5 & 6 I could tell she was starting to be more uncomfortable and the 6th round, while "good" was nothing like the first 5.   I still think she'll place 1st or 2nd in her age bracket, but we won't know until April 21.   Olivia had a good match as well, but there were some distractions that obviously kept her from doing her best in several of the rounds.

Wednesday was a pretty normal day academically.   I had a lunch meeting with a gal pal to discuss co-op for the fall.   We had a great time, and found out how many similarities there are in our extended families.    This will be a good fit, and a good third year!

Thursday I was off to lunch again with another gal pal to celebrate my birthday.   We went to one restaurant to eat and then went to an amazing little bakery for some of the most amazing cheesecake!  Score!   Tom had a softball game in the evening.   Lindsey has had a sore throat for the last two days and its cold and windy, so we opted to let him go alone and we stayed home to work on laundry and co-op lesson plans.

Friday (today) is  back to co-op.  In botany this week we're learning about pollination vs. fertilization.   I've decided not to reinvent the wheel, so I'm taking Olivia's biology lab DVD to show them a few of the labs and let the professor do his work.

In case you missed it, early this week I shared our review of the new Nature Unit Studies from Creation Illustrated.

How was your week?

  1. Sounds like a great week to me! Shakespeare, archery, field trip and a birthday, all in the same week! Happy birthday. I will be hitting 57 this year, so you don't have to feel too old. 😊
