Weekly Wrap Up - Celebrating the Lasts

Monday the girls had the day off school.   I had an early morning meeting at the local community college.  I've been asked to be on an advisory committee to help the college better serve and communicate with the local homeschool  community.   This comes at a great time since Olivia is attending there and I can see things from a parental standpoint that need to be addressed.

Olivia spent a great deal of the day sleeping as she's still not fully recovered from last weeks illness.  Lindsey worked on more of her little sewing enterprise.  That kid is making money hand over fist!  In the late afternoon we headed out to a volleyball game that was 90 minutes away.  Olivia was not at peak performance, and at one point had to come out of the game.   The had to play best 3/5 games, so they went to 4, but fell in the last game.

Tuesday Olivia was back at college.  She came home and went straight to bed and slept right up until time to go to her last volleyball game as a high school player.   The Christian school did a really nice job for senior night and honored Olivia, the lone senior on the team.   It was a good kickoff, and the team beat their opponents in three straight sets.
As you may have noticed in the photo, the team got new uniforms for Monday's game.  Unfortunately they didn't get the same number, so Olivia went from #15 to #16 and Lindsey went from being #6 to being #7.   They ran into problems when the coach filled out the lineup and used the old numbers that she was used to.

Wednesday we had meetings at the college early in the morning.  Then it was home for a regular school day.   Olivia is trying to get caught up from last week, so I didn't schedule new work in the 3 classes the girls do together (Spanish, Bible and Health) so that she could catch up on what Lindsey did last week.   Olivia spend most of the afternoon and early evening plowing through Spanish.

Thursday we were supposed to go on a field trip to a corn maze with our local homeschool group.  We had something unexpected come up and had to back out of the field trip, which was fine since not of our teen friends were going.     Olivia got all caught up on her schoolwork by the end of the day.

Friday the husband had a vacation day and we'd originally planned a camping trip with my brother, which had to be cancelled due to some extenuating circumstances.   We came up with a couple other plans which also ended up getting changed.  So as of the writing of this post, the NEW plan is we're heading out to let the girls do a bit of shopping in the morning, then going out to a nice sit down restaurant for lunch, followed by a newly scheduled volleyball game for the varsity team.  If all goes according to plan (said with a tone) we'll also go to the $3 movie to watch Abominable tonight.  Here's hoping!

Just some reminders.   If you have a junior or senior, it's tine to start signing them up for SAT and ACT tests, and take the test more than once!  Also, don't forget, if you have a kid who plans to go to college in the fall of 2020, you need to fill out the FAFSA now for next year.

Have a great weekend!!
