Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

We started doing shoe boxes for Olivia’s first Christmas, she was 6 months old.  Every year we’ve done a shoe box for a child her age.  Lindsey came along and we added a 2nd shoe box for the year.  This is one of our Christmas family traditions, and an awesome way to teach the girls about helping the less fortunate.

Lindsey is determined to have a baby brother one way or the other.  So this year, she opted to do a little boy shoe box instead of a girl.  I must admit, it was fun shopping for boy things for a change!

Typically, we buy a plastic shoe box right after Christmas and start buying things throughout the year.  The Target $1 bin is awesome, and when those things are marked down it’s even better.  Both shoe boxes this year have really neat knapsacks that we got there for 25cents each!

Now admittedly, it’s a bit late in the year to start that if you want to make a difference THIS year.  However, it’s not too late to pack a shoe box , or make a donation to help with shipping if you don’t have time to stuff a shoe box.
