This was our last Activity Day of the school year. We studied Queen Elizabeth II, and her family. I was surprised that most of the girls had never heard of Princess Diana! We also had a lovely tea party as well.
I had picked up several teacup/saucer sets at thrift stores, so each girl went home with her own teacup set, and a little goodie bag with a princess notepad, princess lip-gloss and some Hershey’s kisses.
Our menu was fun, and mostly sweets (grins)
~ peanut butter and honey finger sandwiches
~cookies
~lady fingers with chocolate butter cream frosting
~chocolate dipped strawberries
~cheeses
~orange slices
~tea with milk and sugar
We learned to dance the Minuet and showcased it for the entire Activity Day group at the end of the day. There were five girls in class, but two were too shy to perform the dance at the end of the day.
Books we used:
The Real Elizabeth, An Intimate Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II; by Andrew Marr
Queen Elizabeth, Monarch of Our Times; by Sara Barton-Wood
The Jewels of Queen Elizabeth II; by Leslie Field
Queen Elizabeth II; by Robert Green
The Art of Taking Tea; by Kim Waller
