Weekly Wrap Up - Dogs and Volleyball

This has been a wild week.  Our weather has been extreme again, only this time instead of heavy snows we were in line for those crazy southern storms midweek, you know the ones with all the tornadoes.  While I'm not an over reactive type, I did at one point send the children to the basement when the watches and warnings were going and the hail started.   We did have a bit of flooding and wind damage in the area, but thankfully for us, tornadoes didn't touch down here.   By the end of the day our temperatures were in the mid 60-s, by morning we were in the 30's and had snow.  C.R.A.Z.Y.  Please keep those in southern Virginia in your prayers as several lives were lost, and many homes damaged or destroyed.

We were also busy with "stuff".   Anyone who tries to play that "unsocialized" card just needs to be smacked, for real.   Besides ballet and piano, we had a basketball game, three day volleyball camp, 4-H Dog Club and two birthday parties this week.  No my kids don't socialize a bit, ahem.

For those of you who may be interested, those are not our dogs.  We have a very rambunctious beagle/blue tick hound mix who doesn't play well with others.  These lovely Brittany Spaniels belong to the dog club facilitator.

This the time of year that I love, because it's when we start finishing up chunks of curriculum.   This week we finished up our geography for the year.   Now we'll start doing science every day and get that one knocked out soon too!

In case you may have missed them, here are this week's posts on the blog:

  1. Oh We had crazy storms too; no tornadoes and not even a warning for our county but the next one over did and I didn't sleep a wink for the whole 5 hours of the storm (midnight to 4)... those winds were scary loud and our whole house shook so badly. We had limbs falling... it was nuts! Then it was tropically warm and sunny for a day and now we're back to freezing--- so even in CT we can relate to the crazy weather!

  2. Thankfully you are all safe and sound. The socialization card always cracks me up too. Really, we socialize so much I have to try and find ways to stay home more.
    Blessings, Dawn

    1. I often tell people that "home" schooling is a farce, because we're rarely home.
Here's to another great week in your home and ours!
