Our church hosted a
Sound of Music Sing Along this past weekend, and it was SO much fun! There were props, costumes and of course singing! I was really surprised to talk to so many people who had never seen the movie, so they were at a disadvantage on costume ideas, but they still were able to sing along as the words to the songs were on the screen. Here are a few of my favorite costumes.

Something Funny's Going On At The Rectory... |
Coming out of the Sing-Along, our temperature was below zero, and the winds went wild. Sunday night into midday Monday we had heavy snow. Monday evening the snow turned over to freezing rain and sleet. By 2am Tuesday, the temperatures had risen above freezing and heavy rains set in and we went under flood warning, with a high for Tuesday of 49 degrees. This has been the craziest winter!!
Olivia has started a book study of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. She's not certain how she feels about his work, but she seems like she's grasping it pretty well. The language is just hard to wrap the head around sometimes.
Thursday I had a meeting. On my way home the kids called "Mom, I smell smoke." Not what you want to hear. Thankfully I was about 3 minutes from home so I told the kids to clear out until I got there. I couldn't find anything when I got home, and there were no smoke alarms going off, but I could catch a whiff of something. The husband got home a few minutes later and he said he didn't smell anything. It wasnt' until about an hour later (just past 5pm when all the heating businesses close) that I realized something wasn't right with the furnace. They couldn't get anyone out here until Friday to look at it. Thankfully, it wasn't as cold this night, and we do have a wood stove upstairs. Praying for a simple and inexpensive fix....sigh.
Sound of music & Shakespeare ! so much fun! Would love to see your posts in the Practical Mondays Link Up:)
ReplyDeleteHope your furnace didn't burn a big hole!
Well, it was the motor, so it was not cheap, but thankfully we had the money in savings. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOh, the "I smell smoke" call would have freaked me out!
ReplyDeleteLove the Sound of Music costumes! Now I'm signing Do Re Me, lol.
I was just glad to see that they really do listen when I tell them what to do in case of emergency. But I did cover the distance in record time, thankfully I didn't pass any police officers in route. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThe smelling smoke call is one I fear, but honestly my family never smells anything. I'm always the one. They need thr alarms to tell them something is wrong.
ReplyDeleteSorry it was expensive, but at least it's working again.
Yes, I'm glad to have the heat back. I'm glad it went out now instead of when we had the below zero temperatures! Thanks for stopping bye!
DeleteWhat a fun activity the Sound of Music activity was. I love the costumes.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
