Women Can Fly - Field Trip

I love finding free experiences for my girls!   This weekend, we took part in a program called Women Can Fly, and we had a blast.  Be sure to see if there's such a program near you. We got to check our all things aviation related (flight simulators, engines, flight  controls)...and THEN....We got to go on a free flight!!!   Prepare to be amazed by the beautiful area we live in!

Now for the beauty of our area....

I've always loved where we lived, and thought it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.  Seeing it from 2,000 feet is simply breath taking.

I got to share this first flight with the girls (I've been on large airplanes many times, first time for me in a single engine).   I was really happy to see that Lindsey didn't toss her cookies, she's prone to motion sickness.  In full disclosure, as we were landing there was a "glitch" and it looked like the plane was going to roll over on its side, enough so that the pilot exclaimed "OH S%&$!" and had to work to get the left side back down.   She did apologize for the expletive later and said that it was the absolute worst landing of her career (thanks a LOT).     I told her "Your lucky we were on this flight, I'd already claimed no harm would come to us and we'd land safely without incident."

It was a great experience, although Lindsey said she's never going to fly again.

  1. What a great experience for you all. I absolutely hate flying, so that would not be the event for me. The views are lovely.

  2. Wow! I am not sure how I'd feel flying in a small plane; I am not much of a fan of big planes or heights.... but it sounds like quite the experience. Glad you all landed safely!
