Weekly Wrap Up - The One With a Fridge Fiasco

This past Saturday, we had Lindsey's fall sports banquet for volleyball.   Once we finished that up, Tom and I went out for dinner and to get a start on Christmas shopping.  We found NOTHING, but dinner was good.

Sunday both girls had try outs for Junior Olympic volleyball.  We should know by the 16th or so if they make it.   Part of me really wants them to make a team, part of me says I don't want to add another thing to the schedule, sigh.

Monday I experienced a first time as a parent.   I had to go pick up a sick child from school.  Granted, it wasn't my child, but still it was a first for me, and left me with an extra teen in the house for the day.   Lessons went well, and Lindsey spent time tutoring our visitor in Algebra since there was an obvious lack of understanding as the child was attempting to do the homework she brought from school.   Then once Rebecka was picked up,  it was off to 4-H sewing class for Lindsey and basketball for Olivia.   Lindsey made this warm, flannel pillow case in sewing.
Tuesday was a rainy, cold, raw day that called for lots of hot tea and indoor activities.  Thankfully, we had nowhere to go, other than I ran out to vote.   Both girls had Algebra tests and both did well, and we were able to get lessons done shortly after lunch.   We then made more hot tea and finished reading "The Yearling" aloud.   In the afternoon, Olivia worked on her artwork and Lindsey began working on her first lap quilt.

Here's what Olivia was drawing.
Wednesday was again cold and gray.  Hot tea was once again a staple throughout the day, and lessons were wrapped up without much issue.   I toasted pumpkin seeds for my botany class to try later in the week, and found that the girls really liked those.  Hopefully I've hidden them well enough to ensure some seeds actually made it to co-op.   We had church in the evening.

After 5 months without a fridge, our new one was scheduled for delivery on Thursday between 11:30am and 1:30pm.  A little after 1 they called and said it would be here between 1 and 3.   They arrived, removed the old fridge, brought the new one in and realized they had the wrong ice maker, the delivery guy said "Call the store".   He finishes putting the doors on and asks for a signature for delivery confirmation, and I look and it's the wrong brand fridge from what I ordered.   I tell him it's the wrong brand and he says "Call the store." and LEAVES!!    I finally get hold of the manager of the store, explain the whole process to him and he says he'll have to look into it, but it could take 24 hours.   I was LIVID, and not particularly nice.    By the end of our conversation, the correct fridge is SUPPOSED to be, with the correct ice maker on Friday....but can't give me a time frame.

Friday - we have co-op.  My husband took a vacation day so he can be home for the fridge delivery since I can't change my plans for co-op.    At 12:15 we got home from co-op, still no fridge. Still waiting.

  1. Oh no! I hope the fridge situation gets straightened out (with some sort of bonus for you with all the mistakes that were made).

  2. Ugg! How frustrating. I hope you have a fridge by now. Pumpkin seeds are popular around here too.

  3. Wow, I'm so impressed that you and your husband went Christmas shopping already. hahaha, my husband and I are more last minute. I don't now why. We both would like to have it done sooner. I love the colors your daughter picked for her quilt.

  6. Hope the fridge issue is sorted by now. I can't imagine being without one for so long.I used to like Christmas shopping when the kids were younger. Not so much now they are older since it is harder to find anything affordable they would like.
