Weekly Wrap Up - The One With the Announcement

The girls' youth group had an all night event over the weekend. We dropped them off at 5:30 on Saturday evening and retrieved them a little after noon Sunday, after church services were done.  There was jousting, knocker ball, a trip to the indoor jump park, and of course lots of food, praise and worship and a message by an awesome youth pastor from another church.   I've searched the photos for a good shot of Olivia, to no avail.   However you can see the bottom of her shoes as she wipes out in the background of this photos.
Here's Lindsey preparing to joust.  She was apparently very good in this event.
This is what teenagers look like in the afternoon when they come home from such an event.
Monday I let the girls sleep in a bit.  Lindsey was up by 8:15am (that's late for her).  I finally woke Olivia at 10am.  The day was slow going and groggy, but lessons were finally completed.   Lindsey had sewing in the evening, and poor Olivia had basketball practice from 7pm-9pm.  She was so incredibly tired when she came home.

Tuesday was a more productive day and the school work went much faster.   Lindsey had a pre-algebra exam.   Olivia actually finished her lessons before Lindsey (this rarely happens) and was able to sit and read about WWII for a while.  She was supposed to have a basketball scrimmage in the evening, but we were under storm watch/warning and the other team cancelled...we of course still had practice that lasted until 7pm.

Wednesday morning we awoke to snow/ice, only about an inch total.  The temperatures were in the teens again, so everything that fell stuck pretty quickly.   All activities, including church in the evening were cancelled.   We had a great relaxed day of school with no pressure to get done and rush out the door. Olivia had a biology test and civics test and did really well on both, thank goodness! We had a leisurely family dinner after the husband got home from work.  I do hate for him to have to be out traveling when it's like this.

Thursday I had a meeting at church midday.  The church driveway is pretty steep, and still covered in snow/ice.  I saw that it was going to be a sheet of ice for Friday morning due to the melting and refreezing, so I cancelled co-op for Friday.  While I was gone, Lindsey made this really cool replica of Shakespeare's theater in her history class.   She'll be performing scenes from Romeo and Juliette as well as Julius Caesar next week (via stick puppet).
Thursday evening saw us heading out to basketball again.  This was only a 1 hour practice and gave us time to stop by the library for a few movies for the weekend.  We picked up National Treasure 1 & 2.

Friday (today) was kind of a free day since co-op was cancelled.   Lindsey will be finishing an apron she started in sewing class (photos coming next week, I hope).   We'll be hitting the grocery store, and getting the oil sensor fixed in the van as well, not in that order.

For those of you waiting for the big announcement, here it is.....Olivia and I will be travelling to Haiti in July on a missions trip.  She's very excited and we're scurrying to make deadlines for shots, fundraisers etc.   You can read all about it here.    If you would like to make a financial donation towards our trip, we'd greatly appreciate.   Send me a message and I'll get information to you about how you can donate.

  1. Sounds like a pretty nice week; weather aside. We had a snow day thrown into our week as well and our activities were canceled. I kind of liked having time to just handing out at home.

    1. Today we're in the 50's, so we should be "normal" for a day or so.
