Weekly Wrap Up - Return of Volleyball

This has been a pretty average week here.  Nothing overly exciting to be honest.    Lindsey finished up her school work for the year and is now officially an 8th grader.  Yes, I assign my kids a grade level, it makes it so much easier when random people say "soooo, what grade are yoooouuu in?" when they find out we homeschool, ahem.

We tried out another new donuts shop, which does nothing for my weight loss efforts, but we're supporting the local economy.   Yes, that's it...supporting the economy.

Olivia is working hard towards finishing up her year.   She has one more chapter in Algebra 2 and two more chapters in biology.   Her scheduled date to end at this point is June 22, however she's finally gotten motivated to start doubling and even tripling up each day so that date may change somewhat.    Olivia had her first "dog sitting" job this week, so she got to add a little extra cash to her pocket.
Lindsey only got in one day at the museum this week.  She likes to do two days a week but we had some scheduling conflicts with extended family and I couldn't be in more than one place at once....ha.   To fill her time, she completed this crazy hard jigsaw puzzle.

Volleyball open gym started back up this week.   There seems to be some "issues" either with the coach or the team as a whole.   We have to play it by ear for a bit, but I don't think we'll be playing at this school in the fall.   Last year was less than stellar, but they haven't even gotten into team practice yet (open gym is open to anyone in the community), and the coach has already told the girls that only the 6 best players will play all year and everyone else will set the bench and that's "just the way it is"...

The husband has a vacation day today, so we're off to play some mini-golf and enjoy the sunshine.  The monsoons are supposed to move back into our area later today and last for another 7 days or so.   Hopefully I'll have photos of our golfing to share next week.

In case you've missed it, I shared a couple of product reviews on the blog this week.  First up was the Vocabulary Riddles Book 1 from The Critical Thinking Co.   I also posted about our use of the Classical Composition I-Fable Set from Memoria Press.

I hope you've had a good week!

  1. Haha, I full heartedly agree that visiting the local donut shop is part of supporting local businesses! ;-)
