The weekend was full of activities. Saturday morning we worked the concession stand at volleyball. During Lindsey's game I had to leave Olivia in charge of the concessions because I was filling in as coach for Lindsey's team again. After we wrapped up volleyball we headed over to the museum for their Oktoberfest celebration. We avoided the more crowded German site and spent most of our time wandering around the "new world". Olivia wanted to go check out the Indian village and see what has changed since she'd been a volunteer on that site.
Sunday evening, our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) hosted their annual Fields of Faith event at one of the local high schools. Olivia and Lindsey were prayer ministers again this year. It's wonderful to see kids praying with and for others in the community and knowing lives are being changed.
My husband was off work on Monday, so we had a school holiday. We went bowling and then out to lunch and just enjoyed being together and goofing off. Olivia had volleyball practice from 3:50-6pm, and then we rushed over to our 4-H meeting from 6:30-8pm.
Tuesday was a little off kilter. Olivia's volleyball team was scheduled to have their last regular season game. It was an away game (several hours away) and so I'd scheduled a light school load for her. We found out on Monday night that the other team had cancelled, so she was happy to have some down time before practice. I'd scheduled lunch with my gal pal Yvette and we tried a new to me Mexican restaurant...with a lunch buffet for $6.99! The food was really good. As we were wrapping up lunch, I got a call from Becca's dad and had to leave to go pick her up from school. Thankfully (especially considering the situation) I was less than 5 minutes from her school and was able to get to her pretty quickly. I got home and got everyone settled and had a little downtime before dropping Olivia off at volleyball. After Becca's dad picked her up I finished up supper then headed out to Lindsey's volleyball practice.
Wednesday morning was PSAT's for Olivia. I dropped her off at the high school at 7:45am. The test started "PROMPTLY" at 8am and was to end at 11:15. The kids finally got out of the test at 12:40, the public school kids missed their lunch break. Olivia said the test was pretty easy and she feels confident that she did well. She finished early on each section and had to wait for the other 150 students to finish. I hope she didn't rush through it. We hit Taco Bell for lunch afterward and then had a little down time before volleyball and church activities.
Thursday morning we had our chiro appointment. Olivia and I are both glad to see that date roll around on the calendar. Feeling MUCH better after an adjustment. We came home and started school work, and laundry. Rains from Hurricane Michael moved in late morning, and sometime around noon, while I was folding laundry I heard the kids running through the house. Upon investigation I found that out there was a pretty bad leak coming down the wall by the chimney and they were grabbing towels and plastic containers to catch the water. The evening consisted of volleyball for both girls at different places, crazy amounts of flooding (after we got to practices) and freakish yellow/green clouds and sky.
Friday morning we awoke to a 30 degree temperature drop from the previous day. Maybe fall has finally arrived for good? Lindsey headed off to work at her museum, I picked up groceries and supplies to repair the roof/chimney and Olivia finished up her school work for the week and made her baked goods for tomorrow's 4-H bake sale. The junior varsity regional volleyball tournament for Olivia's division is in full swing, and Olivia and I worked an afternoon shift with concessions and admissions to help out. The evening is just as full with a babysitting job for one, making items for a bake sale for the other and the husband has to pick up his 5k race packet for tomorrow's race.
I'd like to say we have a low key weekend planned, but that's not the case. Enjoy your weekend, and pray for those in Florida who have lost everything this week.
That is great that she thinks the PSAT went well. I hope it really did. You guys are lucky to live so close to such a wonderful museum. We loved visiting it a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
I find that her idea of "went well" and mine tend to not be the same, so here's hoping it's a good outcome this time!
Deleteyou had a fairly full week, glad everything went well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteBoo to the leak! We found one too this summer and have to wait for the roofing company, but we did a temp fix.
ReplyDeleteYou need to share the restaurant with me for when we are in the area - or maybe we should plan a “date”!!
