Now that the PSAT results have been out for about a month, we're starting to be contacted by lots of colleges. Our email inbox, and physical mail box are quite busy these days. The thing that's piqued the most interest so far is the correspondence from VMI. It's an interesting time for sure, especially for someone not sure she wants to go to college. Now we press on to be ready for the SAT's.
The weather has been frigid here, negative numbers and lots of wind. This has kept Olivia from working at the farm, they only do bare minimum in this weather and don't see the need to freeze her. She's disappointed not to have been there much this week, but was glad to have less stress on scheduling and getting her schoolwork done.
Monday was a normal school day, followed by 4-H in the evening. We're just not impressed with the 4-H at all, and probably won't be returning. Truthfully, the kids are begging to quit now, but that whole commitment thing won't let me do it. When we came home, the family sat around chit chatting and being silly. Then one of those freak things happened, the kind that you couldn't recreate if you tried. Tom goosed Olivia unexpectedly, and she startled and kicked with her food and somehow caught Lindsey right in the forehead. It was bizarre, I was sitting in the same room and missed it all....but we now have our first concussion to deal with.
Tuesday was another typical day of school. Lindsey's headache and foggy brain poured over into her academics and made for more hands on work with me. She did fine on the first half of algebra then her brain just got tired and she couldn't figure out how to do the simplest problem, so she took a break and was able to continue later on. In the evening we went to the gym. She walked the track and I walked with her to keep an eye on her. The noise from all the boys on the basketball courts made her headache worse, so we didn't stay too long.
Wednesday Olivia technically finished her geometry curriculum for the year. I'm not happy with where she is as far as her final grade, so we'll be revisiting a few of the chapters and try to strengthen her grasp. I still find it incredulous that she got such a crazy high score on the math portion of her PSAT...so I'm wondering if the test is easier than I think, or if I'm requiring more than I should. In the evening we headed out to church.
Thursday morning the husband and I swapped vehicles so that I could take his to get the state inspection done. The day went downhill pretty quickly once I got to the garage. They discovered that the motor mounts on the car are broke/gone/not sure what's holding the motor in. We've been toying with the idea of getting a new to us vehicle, but this sealed it as 1) it didn't pass inspection, 2) its dangerous to drive and 3)it would cost more to fix it than it's worth and 4) we have to have a backup plan so the husband can get to work in the next town over. I spent most of my free time researching used cars in the area.
Friday I test drove several vehicles, and had lunch with my friend Yvette while the girls knocked out school work. I'm pretty sure I've found a vehicle and will hopefully get things worked out tomorrow or Monday. Tonight we have volleyball, Lindsey won't get to play because of the concussion.
I've failed at taking any photos this week, so you'll have to overlook me. How was everyone's week?
Wow! I am glad that you all will soon have a safer car. I hope Lindsey is ok.

Hope everything works out with the "new" vehicle... and sorry to hear about the concussion!
