If God Is For Us: The Everlasting Truth of Our Great Salvation (Book Review)

If God Is For Us: The Everlasting Truth of Our Great Salvation, by author Trillia J. Newbell is a newly released 6-week Bible study of Romans 8.

The book itself is softback, with a slightly textured feel.  There are no photos or graphics, but the lovely blue from the front cover is scattered throughout the book adding some color and depth.  This is a 6-week study, and each week covers 5 days of material, so you have some wiggle room if you get off track.   The author uses the English Standard Translation where scriptures are included in the text, so don't get freaked out if the wording is a bit different than your translation.  You can always use Biblehub.com or Biblegateway.com if you want to do your daily reading using the English Standard for continuity.

Week 1 focuses on reading Romans Chapters 1-7 so that you have a basis and understanding of the context before diving into Romans 8.  Each day has a scheduled Bible reading list and corresponding questions; an "Explore" section that gives real life application to the text and also a "Reflect" portion where you get to apply what you've studied to your life.   Week 1 does have more scripture reading than the rest of the book, since you are working through 7 chapters that first week, but don't let that deter you.

Beginning in Week 2, you will notice a slight shift in format as you begin to delve deeper into the scriptures, but with less bulk in scripture reading, and more focus on understanding and application of the scriptures.

This is a great study of Romans Chapter 8.   While saying you're spending 6 weeks on one chapter sounds like it's going to be redundant and dull, that's not the case.  The author does a great job of helping the reader to find and understand the truth, daily discovering more of what God's Word says about who we are in Him.  This book will lend its self easily to a group study, independent study or a combination of the two.
