Weekly Wrap Up - Community College & Vertigo

My niece graduated from high school on Saturday night. There were 182 graduates in her class, so it was a pretty long ceremony.   The guest speaker was retired Lt. Col James P. Reese.   He gave a phenomenal speech and it again piqued Olivia's interest in joining the military.  Out of the 182 graduates, we only knew my niece, but we clapped for every single kid walking across that stage.  I was really disappointed to see that this was not the case with the majority of those in attendance, and many flat out talked over the names being announced, which I thought was really rude.
Monday was a pretty typical day here, which means I did laundry and worked around the house and Olivia went to work.  Lindsey's working on cross stitching projects.

Tuesday both girls worked and I went out of town to have lunch with a family member.   The evening was busy, and we went to a baseball game after a quick dinner.

Wednesday we went to our local community college to find out more about the programs Olivia is interested in.  We even got to sit in on an Early American Literature class and listen to the lecture on Puritan Literature, specifically the Day of Doom.  I thoroughly enjoyed the class from a literature lover point of view.  Lindsey and I dropped Olivia off at work and ran a few errands.   We got home to find that our elderly neighbor was having a  terrible vertigo attack and needed to go to the ER for medications.  The rest of my day/evening were spent getting her settled back at home and going over to check on her every few hours with food and meds.

Olivia decided she does want to do some college courses her senior year.  The program she wants to go into long term is hard to get into and has a lot of prerequisites, so she'll be working through their veterinary assistant certification program and also on getting some of the other prerequisites out of the way.

Thursday morning my neighbor called and was not any better, possibly even worse.  We called around and got a referral to a physical therapist who had an opening today.  He was a really nice, older gentleman who not only treated her using the Epley Maneuver, he showed me how to do it so that she doesn't have to suffer for days next time.   It was pretty quick, and worked wonders and she was back home and not dizzy in no time.  Olivia went to work, I worked on laundry and Lindsey worked on a couple of projects she's got going on.

Thursday evening, right before time to pick Olivia up there was a news report released in our town.  One of the lead counselor, who Olivia had been working directly with at camp, was arrested on charges involving children, but not at camp.   Our evening consisted of a lot of discussion and questioning to make sure we were all on the same pages.

Friday everyone was off to work early.  I did our weekly grocery shopping and then came home to work in the gardens.  The weather was actually chilly, with a pretty strong breeze blowing, so it was perfect for working outside.

I hope you all had a great week!

  1. Ugg, How rude and terrible that people talked over the names being read at graduation. I hope it isn't that way today at my daughters graduation, but it may be. There are 300 graduates in her class so it is going to be really long. SO glad everyone is safe and sound in your world.
    Blessings, Dawn

  3. What a full week. It is crazy that kids are getting old enough for those college classes, isn't it?!
The Epley Maneuver is so helpful! Oldest dealt with vertigo for a while and it really made a difference.
