I don’t think there are any better summer memories than that of attending Vacation Bible School (VBS) as a child. Way back in the dark ages, when I was a kid, there were no multi-media marketed VBS programs…just a bunch of little old church ladies teaching us Bible stories. We had a pretty involved craft that we’d work on all week. Then at the end of the week was the beloved weenie and marshmallow roasting. The girls love VBS too, although today’s programs are so much more involved than those of days gone by.
To kick off VBS week, our church service was held at the local park this past Sunday. The VBS kids choir sang, there were a couple of skits, preaching and of course FOOD!! Yum! The choir sang each night of VBS, lots of games, crafts, skits and memory verses…and at the end an ice cream social. What more could you ask of a VBS? Salvation, that’s what! We had a pile of kids pray for the first time to ask Jesus into their hearts!!
Olivia is in her second week of tennis camp. The arm is doing much better, and her backhand has improved greatly! Unfortunately the mild weather from last week is long gone and it was blistering hot this week!
We’ve also been working on our Knights and Castles unit study. We’ve read a couple of great books during our read aloud time. More about this in another week or so.
We’re also working on an art curriculum review, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. In the meantime, here are a few teasers.
In closing, I thought I’d share a few photos of some of my flower gardens. Have a great week and don’t forget to visit the Weekly Wrap Up!
