We spend a lot of time playing games in the evenings. I thought it was time to add a few more options to the game stash and found some real winners this year. I thought I’d share them with you so you can keep your eye open for these for birthdays and (gasp) next Christmas. After all there are only 364 more shopping days left….gah!
Even Steven’s Odd! is by far the family favorite of the year! This game is for 2 – 4 players, with everyone playing at the same time, racing against each other to the the correct dice combination based on the card being played. LOADS of fun, and my kids didn’t even realize they are working on math and critical thinking skills.
Tapple took second place, but it wasn’t too far behind Even Steven. This game is a race against the clock to name various items based on the topic card. Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to come up with the name of a something stinky or smelly that starts with the letter “W”?
Pick-Up Sticks is a classic, but you wouldn’t believe how hard it’s been to find these! This one really helps with hand/eye coordination and patience.
Apples to Apples Junior edition is another great family game. The only reason this one landed low on the scale was because they can’t all be number 1, and because one of my kids just doesn’t get “inference” which makes this game a bit of a challenge for her.
We have spent lots of time playing these games the last few days, and I see many fun filled gaming evenings in our future!
