Weekly Wrap Up– BUSY

We finished up our 6 week Revolutionary War unit study this week.   This has been a great unit, with lots of reading and notebook pages being added to our history notebooks.   Those 13 colonies were a strong and determined group of folks!  If only we had that kind of leadership and resolve today.

This was our extra busy week.  We had our typical extra curricular activities, and then of course added basketball and cheerleading to the mix.  Thursday was also our monthly activity day meeting so we had back to back things from 1:30 – 7pm  that day.  Dinner was finally on the table at 8pm.

Lindsey finished up her currency unit in math.  Olivia is working through her mixed fractions unit.     We seem to have hit a stint of smooth sailing in math for the moment, thank goodness.

I’m seeing great amounts of improvement in both girls reading skills since we’ve incorporated the Reading Detectives program.  I’m glad I decided to add this on a whim!

We finally got a teeny amount of snow.  It was just enough to be pretty but not enough to snarl up traffic and close schools.  Our city has already used up all of their allowed school days, although I’m not sure how they’ve done that since we’ve had little snow/ice this year.

Speaking of snow, if you and your kiddos are excited about the upcoming Olympics, you might want to check this next freebie out.   Knowledge Quest is offering a free 2014 Winter Olympics Country book download.

That’s about it for our week.  Since this is the end of a 6 week unit, you know what that means!  We’re off next week as I plan the next unit!  Woohoo!

I hope you had a great week, but even if you didn’t don’t dwell on it.  There’s always next week!
