Weekly Wrap Up - Just a Week

The second week of May has zoomed by us.  We had two days of 90 degree weather and then we were back in the 50's during the day and 30's at night.  It's rainy and grey, similar to London weather now.   My mood appears to have turned grey and gloomy as well, and I can't really put my finger on it other than just...done is so many ways.

I did get a chance to get outside and take a preliminary photo of one of my favorite flower gardens.   This particular one houses peonies, red hot pokers, irises, hollyhocks, oriental poppies and buttercups which are a weed but I like them because they add color and a bit of cheer.

The hollyhocks won't bloom until later and I'll also have zinnias and a few other annuals in there once some of the spring blooms are gone.   This flower garden is right outside the window of our sunroom, so we all get to enjoy the blooms every day.

Wednesday was our last co-op of the academic year.   Still struggling to get families to commit to next year and the new once a week schedule, because nobody feels like they can teach a class.   I have a news flash, if you homeschool your own kids, you can teach a class.  You may not want to, but that doesn't mean you can't.   Anyhooo, we learned about Denmark and worked on a chalk pastel project of the Little Mermaid (the one from Copenhagen, not Disney).

Thursday we finally squeezed in Olivia's annual checkup.  Since she very well may be playing volleyball and basketball at a local private school this year, I had to wait until after a certain date to get her sports physical.    She was none too thrilled when the doctor told her he thinks she's just about finished growing.   She's only 5'3.75....she was hoping for 5'10 or so.   The real issue is that it looks like the younger sister is going to shoot right by her, and all those years of "short" comments are ready to bite her in the backside.

I also went out to lunch Thursday with one of my favorite gal pals.   We had Thai food at this nifty little restaurant here in town.  Adult conversation and food we didn't have to cook or clean up after, major score!

Lindsey finished her 3rd, 1000 piece puzzle this week.   As you can see, she was a BIT unhappy when she got to the end and was missing one piece.  (I did find the missing piece later under the sofa cushion, but I didn't think to take another photo then.)

Friday (today) is our monthly chiropractor visit, grocery shopping and then home to do our school work.  We'll finish up Latin today.  Tonight the girls will be making dinner (homemade pizza) with their dad and I'll be going out to a ladies event at church.

This weekend is the volleyball banquet, and we'll find out which team won the tournament. Like I said last week, glad it's over, but I've got to tell you, the last day was BAD.  It was truly learning experience, and one I know I won't soon forget!

How was your week?   Any grand plans for the weekend?

  2. OH I hate when a puzzle piece is missing! I just commented to my husband the other day that I felt like I was living in London or Seattle with all the cool, cloudy, & somewhat rainy weather we've been having.

  3. How funny that your girl wanted to be so tall! My Pixie finished growing 3 years ago at 5' 1/2" Her younger sisters tower over her. :)

I feel the gloom especially badly this month, too. But then the sunny days come, and all is well. I wonder if if has something to do with expecting gloom in February but expecting sun now . . .

Anyway, your garden is lovely! And I'm glad you're free of volleyball!

    1. Part of it is I want to get out and work in the garden and get my veggies planted and it's just not happening. Too wet, too cold, too busy. Next week I'm going to go buy plants so that will make me smile.
