Over the weekend, we spent a great deal of time baking and decorating our cookies (see above). Our "elfing" started on Monday with the trash-guys and a 100 year old WWII veteran Olivia befriended at the YMCA. We knocked out a few hours of school then went to basketball practice, then home for a sit down and not rush to eat family meal for a change.
Tuesday Lindsey woke up with a nasty stomach bug. By about 10am she was apparently all empty in every direction, ahem. She slept for about an hour then asked to start her school work. We also did more "elfing", we targeted our mail man, and the mechanics at the garage we use for repairs on our vehicles, as well as my husbands co-workers. School went pretty smoothly and there was no basketball at all! The girls completed their "ugly sweaters" for youth on Sunday.
Wednesday we planned for the kids to start "elfing" the neighbors, but Lindsey was still a bit woozly, so I boxed up cookies and candies for a few folks at church. The girls worked on their school work, and I ran to the grocery store to pick up the absolute last things I plan to buy until middle of next week...lets see how that works out for me. The girls stayed home in the evening while the husband and I headed to church for the classes we teach.
Thursday the bug was gone, and we packed up more cookies and candy and sent the girls out to deliver to our elderly neighbors. Then it was back in for a super short, last day of school for 2017! We ran a few errands, dropped off a few gifts and then Lindsey treated herself to acrylic nails for the holidays. In the evening, Olivia's basketball team had a pizza party so Tom, Lindsey and I headed out to dinner while we waited to pick her up.
Friday (today) starts our first day of winter break and my husband also starts his work break. He'll be off until January 2, and we'll return to school that day as well. My brother will be arriving this afternoon and we'll be heading out to watch the new Star Wars movie.
Around the web this week I shared about enjoying those Plain Vanilla Days, and a peak at our Christmas Crafting Day.
Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up.

DeleteMy husband and oldest son went to see Star Wars last weekend and they've talked all about it ever since. I hope you enjoy your time off and that everyone stays healthy through the new year.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't prepared for it to be as long as it was, but really liked the movie! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
DeleteElfing? Is that just going around gifting people with cookies?
ReplyDeleteYes, that's exactly what it is. They wear elf hats (with little bells on it) and go deliver a plate of Christmas goodness.
DeleteMerry Christmas to all your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!! Happy New Year!
