Monday brought in temperatures that were above freezing for the first time in two weeks. I'd kind of gotten used to those single digit and negative number readings on the outdoor thermometer. The sun was shining and it was a lovely morning. Imagine my surprise when mid-morning I found out that every school district in our area was closed in expectancy of an ice storm that never materialized. All extra curricular activities were canceled including sewing class and our government class. Even though the school Olivia plays sports for was closed for the day, they still had practice, which I found bizarre...too dangerous to go learn but ok to go practice? Odd.
Both girls worked on art projects today. Lindsey's work coincides with here Renaissance and Reformation study, Olivia's is just part of her art class for the year.
Tuesday was a great day mid 40 degree temperatures. Schoolwork went really smoothly and both girls were finished by around 2pm. I'm not sure what has happened with Olivia, she's getting done so much earlier since we've come back from our break. We started reading the next literature selection for co-op in our read aloud time. The Giver is one weird book ya'll. We were off to basketball in the afternoon but it was only an hour practice from 4:15-5:15 so we had the evening at home.
Wednesday was a typical school day that ended early and we had lots of time in the afternoon for more reading and Christmas cookies from the freezer, grins. I teach several adult classes a year at our church, and tonight I finished up the last one for this term.
Thursday we were up early and off to the chiropractor to get Olivia's hips/back worked on. We did a quick grocery shopping trip on the way back home. Lessons were of course started much later than usual (10ish) and unfortunately Olivia didn't get done before we left for basketball practice at 3:15. Practice was over by 5, and we were home by 5:30, so it took a while for her to finish up.
Friday (today) is co-op again. We'll be there from 9-noon, then run a few errands before heading home for the girls to work on their co-op homework. Dinner will be waiting in the crockpot, so we'll eat when the husband gets home and then head out to Olivia's basketball game in the evening.
Still working on that announcement post (and no, I'm not pregnant).
How was everyone's week?
Hmmm, the announcement?! When will it come? It sounds like a great week. Everything was closed here for the no show ice storm too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
Hopefully on Monday if I can get time to sit down and type it out!
DeleteWe were thrilled to see temps in the 30's this week and ended up going for a hike in the snow. I do find it odd that school was cancelled but not practice; however our school district does screwy things like that too.
ReplyDeleteYesterday it was in the 60's and we had tornado warnings!
DeleteThis weather has been insane!!! Are you all going to read any other books in The Giver series? Our girls really enjoyed them (me too).
ReplyDeleteWe might read the rest of them depending on how we like the way this one ends. One of the boys in our literature group said it reminds him of communism, and I hadn't looked at it like that.
DeleteI was getting used to single-digit temps too, and I didn't like it one bit! Glad your temperatures are getting warmer, as ours are. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteWe had 60 degrees and tornado warnings yesterday. Crazier by the day!
DeleteI have never lived it weather like that so its always incredible to me when I read what other are dealing with right now. I just keep praying for rain! (because we need it in my area.)
ReplyDeletesounds like the week went well... hopefully Olivia's drive to be completed in good time will continue eh? :)
