Weekly Wrap Up–The One With the Field Trips

We started out our week with two really great field trips.  Technically they were on the weekend but the weekend counts as the start of our new week for Wrap-Up purposes.   Saturday we traveled to the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum and let the girls’ imaginations run wild.  Sunday after church we traveled to Natural Bridge and enjoyed God’s beautiful creations.  Here is my absolute favorite picture from the weekend.

We continued working on our dinosaur unit study this week.  I’m thinking we might be done next week, but I’ve found a few more things I’d like to add on, so we’ll see.

Olivia began working with fractions this week.  She’d worked with 1/2 and 1/4 in the past, but now she’s working on find the fractional part of a group.  So far so good.  Lindsey began working with dividing things into halves, so we’re working on similar things, on different levels.

All of our other lessons are going smoothly.  We’re having a really good year so far.   We’ve already completed 1/4 of our school year! The girls are both doing really well and I’m feeling like our routine is really working well.

Ballet, tap, choir and Awana are all chugging along.  As we gear up for Nutcracker, this will be our last weekend free until December.  I’m hoping to get in at least one field trip over the weekend, maybe 2.

Wednesday was a very stressful day.  My Mom (the one who raised me, not my biological mother) had an MRI that showed what they thought was bleeding on the brain.   She was then sent to a different hospital and saw the specialist there.  There was no bleeding, instead there was a malformation…more tests are being scheduled.   She was also diagnosed with dementia, which really came as no surprise, but expecting it didn’t really soften it any.  Now we have lots of information to gather, and decisions to make.

This being the first week of the month, there was no co-op meeting today.  We took the opportunity to go do some serious stocking up  grocery shopping at our nearby outlet stores. We also went out to Chinese for lunch, yum!   We all enjoy reading the fortunes in the cookies at the end of the meal.  Today we had three great ones!

“When things go wrong, don’t go with them.”

”Fear is just excitement in need of an attitude adjustment.”

“With listening comes wisdom, with speaking comes repentance.”

I hope you had a great week as well.  Stop by the Weekly Wrap Up and link up while Kris is off gallivanting around.  She’ll need something to read when she gets home…grins.
