Weekly Wrap Up–Spring Recital Week

If you have a dancer in your home, you know how crazy stage week can be.  Please send your sympathy to me ya’ll, I’m about shot.   I also failed to take a single photo of the ballet craziness, because, well…it’s just been crazy.

Monday was a typical day of summer school (math & writing).  While the girls worked on that I swapped out their winter clothes for summer attire, just in time for the the temperatures to hit the 90’s.   90’s in May does not bode well for the rest of the summer.   Olivia then had stage rehearsal from 5-8:30pm, and I worked back stage on costumes.

Tuesday was a repeat of Monday, without the clothes swap.  I did manage to get caught up on all the laundry, hit the grocery store and finish up a few small projects before taking Olivia back to the stage from 4:45-8pm.

Wednesday morning we traveled to Lexington, Virginia to tour Stonewall Jackson’s home, VMI and the cemetery where Jackson is buried.   You can read all about out trip here.    This official wrapped up our Civil War Unit Study.   This trip was supposed to have happened last week, but was rescheduled due to bad weather…to the day of dress rehearsal.   Both girls were then at the stage from 4:45-8:15pm.

Thursday was lovely.  Lindsey finished her 3rd grade math, and scored well on her end of unit test.   I managed to get the house clean, really clean.   I have a friend who is going on a missions trip, and she came by and picked up all of my yard sale stash, to add to her fundraiser yard sale.   I got rid of all of this stuff!

Then it was back to the stage from 5-8:15pm.   Yawn.

Friday, thank God it’s over.   The ballet studio did a special performance this morning at the local high school.   All of the 2nd graders from all the city and county schools came to watch, as a field trip.  So at 8:45am we were at the stage.  By 11am the show was over and I was making rounds dropping off kids at various schools, and then took my girls and another homeschool girl to co-op.  We ended co-op at 3:00 were home by 3:30pm, ate a quick dinner and were back to the stage from 5-8:00pm.   I’m exhausted, the girls are exhausted and apparently Claritin is not working for me this year I’m a big itchy, sneezey, oozy mess.

There are two performances tomorrow (1:00pm and 4:30pm) and then the recital craziness is over.   Just a few more weeks of ballet to go!

Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up and Collage Friday.

  1. I totally get it. I have two in dance and they are in Alice in Wonderland this year. The crazy extra rehearsal schedule starts today and the six shows start in two weeks.
    blessings,
