Weekly Wrap Up - The Blizzard

So yeah, as the title indicates, we're smack dab in the middle of the part of Virginia that is supposed to get the "storm of the century" this weekend.   Our winter has been unusually mild so far (73 degrees on Christmas ya'll) and only and occasional flurry to be seen.  This week our temperatures dropped into the low single digits, so if we do get snow, it'll definitely stick.   I'm hoping we do get snow, and that we do have the whole weekend stuck at home to play board games, bake cookies and sit by the fire after a big snowball fight.   I truly was skeptical, but at 9:10am this morning the snow started, and by 9:30am the roads are covered.....I think this one is real!

Expect to see lots of snow photos next week, ok?

This week I assigned Little House in the Big Woods to Lindsey for her reading time.  By chapter 2 she complained it was boring.  "All they do is sit around and churn butter and listen to Pa play the fiddle.  I need excitement, I need adventure!:

And so, I gave her excitement and adventure.  I went to the library and picked up Genghis Khan - 13th Century Mongolian Tyrant for the little darling to read.  By chapter 2 she said "Are you nuts?  This thing is going to give me nightmares!"

Fine, go back to churning butter and listening to the fiddle.  Don't toy with me little girl, ahem.

I'm happy to say that even though I dropped the ball on photos last week, I do have a few this week.  Granted they are from last weeks trip to the Jump Park, but hey, it's not a boring post this week.  Grins.

    1. It's been a good weekend. We only got about 18inches of snow, but it's still enough to shut down our city and give us a weekend at home! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. We really have to make it to one of those jump parks soon. My kids love the Little House series. They never think it is to boring. Different strokes for different folks.

    1. The jump parks are lots of fun, and great exercise, an hour is about all you can handle. She loves the Little House show, not sure what it is about the books that don't do it for her.

  3. I do enjoy a good blizzard; there's nothing quite like holing up at home with fires and fresh baking/ cooking smells while watching the white stuff pile up outside.. but we;re only supposed to get an inch or two.

    1. We got 18 inches,so that wasn't bad, but a far cry from the 36" they'd predicted. Still, cookies and nachos and popcorn were lovely.
