Saturday was our year end volleyball tournament. My team, who have played poorly all year (as in lost every.single.game) made an amazing turn around and started winning at the tournament. I'd love to say they won, but that's not the case, but I was SUPER proud of how they played on Saturday. Olivia's team, who were tied for first place going into the tournament, were able to work together and pull off a win over teams #2 and #3 to take the championship!
After the tournament, we drove out to my brother's place for our annual October bonfire and weenie roast. Unfortunately we had a high wind advisory so the bonfire was much smaller than usual, and with the temperatures in the 40's and high winds, we were freezing! The kids carved pumpkins, we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and sat around the fire for hours chatting.
Monday we packed a few sandwiches and trail mix and went for a hike in the mountains. The trail we went on said it was 8/10 of a mile, but I really don't think that was right...and it was a very steep climb too. None the less, the view from the top was STUNNING!!
Tuesday and Wednesday were regular school days. We knocked out a lot of academics, including a quarterly math exam and the beginning of a really cool project on Stonehenge.
Thursday, Olivia worked at the museum while Lindsey and I finished up with Stonehenge (I'll have a post next week). She and I then went grocery shopping and then to the museum to spend the afternoon ourselves. The camera somehow got left in the van at the museum, sorry ya'll!
Today is a typical 1/2 day, followed by IEW. Tonight we'll be carving pumpkins and most likely making more
popcorn balls, since the fist batch went way too fast! Have a great weekend!

Those are amazing mountain views!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the view would have been even better out on the rocks, but...I wanted to live, grins.
