Love at First Fight (Book Review and Give Away)

Today's book review is  Love at First Fight, the newest release from authors Carey & Dena Dyer.  The book consists of 52 story-based devotions for couples, broken into 5 parts:  Coming Out Swinging, Treating Our Wounds, Retreating to Our Corners, Needing a Referee and Still Standing.

Each daily reading starts off with an applicable scripture that goes with the topic for the day.  Th format is written in a he says/she says way showing both sides of situations that couples (especially unsuspecting newlyweds) may find themselves caught off guard by.   I mean really, who would have thought that deciding where to spend the holidays and how to spend the holidays could be such a big deal....until you're married and everyone wants to go "home" for Christmas!

Following the often tongue-in-cheek he says/she says section is a "Taking Off the Gloves" section that asks the couples for some thought and discussion, such as:  "Are there specific holidays or special occasions that have caused hurt feelings or conflict in the past?"

Lastly, the section finishes up with "Tips From the Pros".   In this section you'll find some words of wisdom from folks who have been married 8 years or more....some of the pros quoted have been married over 47 years!

While this is a devotional for couples, it's not a overly deep or hard to follow book.  It really gives some simple insight and though provoking nudges to help you and your spouse better understand where the other is coming from....but it's not one of those things that will take a huge chunk of time.

  1. This book seems awesome. When I first got married my husband it amazed me how many little things caused arguments, I hadn't realized how different our family cultures were! My email is bekahkathryn10@gmail.com
