Weekly Wrap Up - Christmas Break Begins

Once again, I failed to take the whole month of December off.   Each year I say that's my goal, it's yet to happen, and may never happen, but I guess it's good to have a dream, huh?

This week was VERY light.  The girls had math each day, and finished up their language arts units they were in.   Olivia also had a geography test, wrapping up Chapter 7 in her curriculum.  We've been doing a lot of  Christmas baking and elfing this week.

Olivia has spent most of her evenings (4:15-9:15pm) at the museum helping with the lantern tours.  She has been one of the actors in the mummer's play, portraying a Turkish knight who dies in a sword fight.   She's had a lot of fun with this role, adding the "blood, blood, blood aaaaannnddd death!" line from Zootopia when there are children in the tours.  She said the kids really laughed over that, but most of the adults didn't get it.   Poor dears, it's been in the single digits and below in the evenings and everyone has had to bundle up in layer after layer under their costumes.    I've enjoyed going over to wait for her each night, as I sit in the dark and cold listening for the sound of the bells, as the horse drawn wagons carry travelers from Old World to New World and back again.

We stared our "official" holiday break today and won't return to academics until January 3, but I will be posting some next week.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you!

    1. We've given out cookies, been given more cookies and now I've packed them up in freezer bags and put them out of sight. They'll be lovely with tea over the winter.

    1. In the scene where Judy Hops is doing her school play, she does the death scene, then she repeats it at the end when the bad guys have her cornered in the museum.
