This was co-op week for us. I taught my cultures and art class about Germany, and the history of Nutcrackers. I took one of Lindsey's bigger Nutcracker's for a little "show and tell" and then we spent our art portion of the day drawing and painting our own Nutcracker. I never expected to be teaching art of all things, but so far, so good!
This was one of most fun art classes we've had this year. The kids were all laughing and generally just having fun. We wrapped up with some delicious Christmas treats before heading home for the holidays.
Speaking of treats, the girls and I are busy with our baking and candy making. We'll be wrapping up over the weekend and then begin to "elf" people next week. Fudge was first on our list, because it's the quickest and it gave me a little feeling of accomplishment early on.
The girls are into Star Wars, so my brother bought them a couple of totally cool light sabers. The sound effects are awesome, and watching them have sword fights in the dark is pretty entertaining.
The temperatures here have bottomed out as the "polar vortex" moved into place. Our daytime highs have been single digits, with 45mph sustained winds! The first night of lantern tours at the museum was cancelled due to the risk of frostbite to workers and guests. I was thankful Olivia was spared being out!

Academics are going well. We wrapped up out 15th week of school this week. We have 3 light days next week and then we'll break for Christmas and be off until January 3!
Stay warm, and have a great weekend!
Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up.
I love those light sabers!
ReplyDeleteMy brother got those for the girls, and they have really had fun with them!
DeleteIt is so cold and raw here today too. Even inside with the heat on I'm a bit chilled!
ReplyDeleteIt's been weird here, bitter cold, followed by an ice storm in the early morning and then near 60's by the end of the day. Today we are again cold and supposed to get more ice!
DeleteCold here, too, but not single digits yet.
ReplyDeleteJust wait, it'll be there before you know it!
DeleteWhat a great week. I am glad all went better. The fudge looks good.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
Thanks, it was a good week. The fudge is yummy and goes great with a cup of hot coffee!
