Weekly Wrap Up - Hello 2017

The holiday's are behind us and we're well into the first full week of 2017!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas season with your families and friends.   We had a good Christmas.  We got to spend time with both sides of the family, have some "just the four of us" family time and enjoyed each others company.

Christmas morning started out with our traditional eggnog french toast and bacon.   Doesn't this just look YUMMY?   I wish I'd thought ahead and bought some extra eggnog to freeze for later in the winter.
We then opened gifts before heading off to church.    My history lover was downright giddy over her collection of audio dramas and my super active kid was thrilled with her new bike.  The irony being that the audio dramas cost more than the bike.
We celebrated New Year's Eve with my brother, and had fun with some photo props I picked up.  My brother's little dog has become quite the little party animal, snicker.

January 2 was my husband's birthday, and our last official "celebration".  Can I just say I'm really just over food for a while!   Between holiday meals and sweets and birthday cake, I'm just done!
Tuesday morning was back to the gym and back to our normal homeschool routine.   We've hit the gym every morning, and again in the evenings on Tuesday and Thursday.   Basketball practice resumed on Wednesday evening, along with the class I teach at our church.   The girls I.E.W. class also started back today.   It's been a smooth week for the most part, with the exception of the dreaded algebra....an 11 day break sounded like a good idea before Christmas, ahem.

In case you missed it, last week I shared our 2016 Academic Year in Review to get a handle on where we are and where we are heading.    I also shared (just this morning) about my theme word for 2017.

  2. We had a birthday party on the 1st and I remember thinking that I didn't even want any of the cake (though I did eat some)... I was so happy to get back to the gym and back to eating our normal foods. I was questioning our decision to take two weeks off after all the blank looks I got on Tuesday reviewing math and reading with the boys. Thankfully they're all back on target today.

    1. I like routine and schedules. Now that we're back at it, I'm down 4 pounds! (Ok, so it's the 4 pounnds I put on over the holiday's but hey, it's still a loss, right?)

  3. Algebra is just brutal, no matter when it happens. I was so glad to survive Algebra 1 last year. Geometry has been so much better. I'm not looking forward to Algebra 2 next year. :)
I'm with you on food - I just want normal meals and no sweets for a while - but we have another birthday next week (our 6th of the holiday season!).

  5. I'm over the food too but we also have most of our birthdays over Christmas & the first 3 months of the year so by the time we get to March I never want to see another cake again.

  6. Our birthdays continue from Christmas through to the end of March by which time I am totally over cake and anything resembling party food.
