The glorious day that all homeschool moms live for...BOX DAY, has arrived! For those of you new to homeschooling, that means the box of new curriculum for next year has arrived. We actually had two box days this week, as I ordered our science lab items from a separate place. I'll spare you the photos of the dissection specimens, grins.
We were able to get back into the gym this week. It's funny how taking a week off can zap your enthusiasm. However, once we got there I was happy to be back in the routine. Lindsey has been developing some pretty intense workout routines, so I've given her the task of being her older sister's personal trainer. Olivia tends to do the minimum when left to her own devices, so this is a good thing for both of them.
This week, Lindsey found a new love for puzzles. She started working on Monday afternoon on a 1000 piece puzzle, and worked on it every day after her school work was done. By Wednesday she had it completed.
Olivia has been working on more art projects. We were able to combine this weeks art with her geography/cultures class that was studying stained glass art. She used her watercolors to paint a lovely "faux" stained glass.
I've looked over our remaining school work and realized that we really need to kick it up a notch. All these days off when the husband has been off, and the lost week last week has put us behind. We'll still finish up mid-late May for most subjects, but math, spelling and Latin seem to be going to take a bit longer. As we begin to finish one subject, I'll start adding more daily in other areas. Lindsey finishes up history on Monday, and Olivia will finish up language arts one day next week, depending on when she turns in her book report on God's Smuggler.
After tonight, we have one more week of archery, 4 more weeks of volleyball, and writing co-op ends on April 28. I'm excited to start seeing free time reappear on the calendar.
Are you in the homestretch of your academic year?
Linking up with the Weekly Wrap Up.
My oldest has just started getting into puzzles these past few weeks; it's great to see him plugging away at it after school. I think we're close to wrapping up most of our subjects but we usually just take a week or two off and then dive into the next set of materials.
ReplyDeleteWe visited my in-laws over the weekend, and she came home with a stack of puzzles to work on. She's enjoying it for now anyway.
DeleteI LOVE BOX DAY! How fun! We went through a puzzle phase earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
My mother-in-law sent home a nice stack of puzzles over the weekend, so she has plenty to work on now.
DeleteYay for Box Day! I got a box of literature in last week, so that was fun for me!
ReplyDeleteI get so excited over the new items, so I put them away until the summer so I can have time to plan & schedule without the constraints of slowing this year's progress.
DeleteHappy Box Day!! Love seeing the puzzle fun and the art as well. Thanks for linking at Homeschool Highlights!
