Our weather made a drastic swing this week from below zero to being in the 70's. We've enjoyed the warmer weather, and even opened up the windows and aired the house out a couple of times. It's just crazy how fast things change!
Speaking of change, I logged on to Blogger Tuesday to start writing a post only to find a notification that Blogger and Google+ are no longer working together here on the blogging platform. I really wish they'd given more notice as all my Google+ followers, comments and connections went POOF.
We've also made a change in academics this week. The Algebra 1 that Lindsey has been using just is not working. We're at the point where we needed to either restart the program or find something else. After much discussion between the two of us, and with Olivia's input we decided to lay aside what's not working and move over to No Nonsense Algebra. We're going to get through this whole thing by the end of this academic year and then we'll have to revisit where we are heading with math for next year. So far, this change has worked well, the combination of the online videos and the reviewing of early skills is giving Lindsey some confidence, and we're moving pretty quickly for now.
Lindsey finished her language arts this week, and will finish her history early next week. It's hard to believe this academic year is wrapping up, especially so early! The end of these subjects will give her more time to work through the algebra, so it should work out well...here's hoping.
Olivia has spent a lot of time at the farm this week. She's doing a good job of working ahead in her school work on her days off work. She's in her final leg of several classes. The biggest challenge now is to survive reading Julius Caesar. I've ordered a video from the library to watch and I'm hoping that will make it easier to grasp.
It's been a busy week for us in the evenings. Monday night we worked concessions, Tuesday we were we all over at the farm visiting, Wednesday was church and Lindsey ended up in concessions. Thursday evening the girls and I went to a self defense class. Friday is/was the final night of volleyball for us.
If you're following my weight loss journey, be sure to read this week's Monday Momentum. I figured out where my stall/struggle was coming from!
Have a great weekend!
I could not believe when all these messages started showing up about google+... I use that so much! We use No Nonsense Algebra too (though amazingly enough we have not had to use videos yet!). My oldest son seems to "get it" and I'm just hoping and praying that keeps on. I thought our year in math was going to be so much harder.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear someone else is using the algebra and liking it.
