Weekly Wrap Up - New Opportunities

Lindsey's 15th birthday party was this past Saturday.  We do pretty low key parties, just the grandparents and aunts/uncles.  With Olivia's work schedule, we had to push the party later in the afternoon, so I just decided to fix dinner and feed everyone too.  We had crack chicken sandwiches, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, chips/dip, watermelon and of course cake and ice cream.   Here are a few photos of my girl.

Sunday consisted of working at the farm and church and rest.  We didn't do anything remotely interesting, and I'm fine with that.  Olivia's back is slowly getting back to normal, but it's still tight.

Monday was Memorial Day and we were all home, and all had great hopes of sleeping in for a change.  I was up first, awakening before 7am, and Olivia was the last to arise at 8:30am.  Our options for activities are slim these days.  We did find a mini-golf place that was open, so we went there.  Afterwards we picked up some fast food and went to the park and had a picnic.  The later afternoon/evening was spent watching all three Star Trek movies.

Tuesday morning Olivia started her new job at the hydroponics growers.  She was nervous about going into a manufacturing facility, but was excited about working full time.  I was happy to get a text from her during one of her breaks that said "Going pretty good."   Her hands and back were hurting by the end of the day, but she seemed to have enjoyed what she was doing.  Lindsey had a pretty good day academically.  She was finished around noon.   The evening consisted of volleyball and jiu-jitsu.

Wednesday Olivia was up and ready for work early.  We mapped out a new route to her job and it took some time off our commute, so we'll actually be sleeping later and leaving later from here on out.  Lindsey had her first ASL test online and did really well. She's loving this new program and is really picking it up quickly.  I worked in the flower gardens, dividing bulbs and perennials.   When I picked Olivia up from work her back was really bothering her.  Standing for 8 hours on concrete is really aggravating her sprain/strain from the incident at the horse farm.

Thursday morning  Olivia was pretty stiff from the previous day's work.  I loaded her up with a supply of ibuprofen to take to work.  We also put a pain patch on her lower back to see if that helped any.  After I dropped her off I picked up groceries and then came home to work on laundry.  I called our chiropractor and made an appointment for Olivia right after work.  Come to find out, her right hip was jammed which was causing all the lower back muscles to be out of sorts.   He fixed her hip, and adjusted her spine.  She had immediate relief from the stabbing pain, now we just have to wait for the deep tissue strain and accompanying stiffness and soreness to pass.

Lindsey plowed through her schoolwork and was done by around lunch time.  Her evening consisted of coaching volleyball and jiu-jitsu.

Friday morning, the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  I dropped Olivia off at work, then came home to my morning coffee and thoughts of that day 19 years ago.  Lindsey worked on school work and later she and I will spend time watching footage of the events of that day.

Tonight, we're supposed to go to a live concert with Christian music artist, Jason Gray!  An actual event ya'll, with people!!  It's supposed to be held outside, and we bring our own chairs, and have to social distance.  But still, it's an actual event!!

Have a good weekend, and NEVER FORGET.

  4. Don't you love that life is getting slowly back to "normal!" We are so excited that our life is getting back to a regular routine with some modifications though.
