I keep sitting down to finish my post and then get sidetracked, so I'm a couple of days late.
Sunday was my brother, Nelson's, birthday. Lindsey and I made the trek out to his house after church to visit and celebrate. This was a great driving opportunity for Lindsey. It was her longest drive yet, and she did well, even with an unexpected heavy rain. We were home by about 5pm, and Lindsey worked on making coleslaw while I shredded a porkroast that I'd put in the crockpot earlier. By the time Olivia got home from work we were getting dinner on the table. After dinner, Olivia grabbed a quick shower and her work clothes and headed back to Yvette's for her second week of dog sitting.
Monday, honestly, was miserable. After working in my flower beds several days last week, helping with tree removal Friday (it was still blooming) and having our dog in the house, my allergies were on mega-over drive. It felt like my eyes would pop out the front of me head, and just having my eyes open hurt. I spent the majority of the day sipping hot tea with my eyes closed, to be honest. Lindsey worked on academics and went to work like always and we had something for dinner...but neither of us can remember what it was.
Tuesday morning the allergy nightmare had started to improve, but I was still miserable. Lindsey was off work, and after school she had me go for a ride with her so she could work on her driving time. I worked on a few small things around the house. We had a guest speaker at church, so Lindsey and I went to that in the evening. Olivia met us at church, and as soon as I saw her across the parking lot, I could tell something was bothering her. She'd had to help with her first euthanization at work, and the horse didn't give in to death immediately. She had to give him a second shot, and it just tugged at her heart strings.
Wednesday I was back to normal. Lindsey finished her ASL for the year, before heading off to work. I spent the day cleaning the house and moving more items to the purge pile.
Thursday I dropped Lindsey off at work and made my regular grocery run. Some of our stores have been "cash free" for a bit. Today I walked in one store to see people walking out, because after months of "cash free", now they were only taking card. It's crazy out there people! The in-laws stopped by late morning for a visit. Olivia finally came home from her house sitting gig, and all was right in my world. After a nice sit down dinner, the girls headed off to jiu-jitsu.
Friday everyone was off work (except the husband). The girls and I went to the chiropractor, then it was home to catch up on laundry. The husband worked a split shift and got off work at 6pm. We were finally able to take Olivia out to dinner for her birthday (only 2 weeks late). While we were at the restaurant we started getting severe storm warnings, followed by tornado watch that quickly turned into tornado warnings. Last week we had no warning, but had a tornado. This week, warning and no tornado. Craziest thing ever!
Oh, and one of local greenhouses was hosting a Mother's Day plant give away. I won this beautiful hanging basket!
Happy Mother's Day!!
What a beautiful plant! Your garden is looking lovey but I am so sorry to hear your allergies were so bad this week. We are still waiting for things to bloom here so mine aren't that bad... yet!
