Weekly Wrap Up–Science, Cookies and a Field Trip

This was our 7th week of the school year, and that means next week is our first break of the year!    I have lots of things scheduled for the week…gardening, lesson plans and preparing for a yardsale.   Doesn’t sound like much of a “break” does it?

Language Arts: Olivia finished up her book study of The Bronze Bow.   Lindsey finished her book study of Wilbur and Orville Wright.

Science:  We finished up our third chapter in our Physics & Chemistry book.   The highlight of the week was baking up a batch of sugar cookies and making the Periodic Table of Elements.  Yum!

Math:   Both girls had their third math test of the year.  I’m so happy to see the new confidence level in both girls after 7 weeks of using Horizons.  They both scored really well on the tests which really made them both quite proud.

History:  We finished up our Wild West Unit Study.  Although we all enjoyed this unit, I’m glad to be moving on to our next 6 weeks on the Industrial Revolution.

Friday we were gone all day on a field trip with friends.   I’ll be writing a blog post with lots of photos next week, but for now at least you’ll know where we went, grins.

Nutcracker practices start this weekend.  We’re now at ballet 6 days a week until December 14.
