Weekly Wrap Up - September...Already?

Happy September everyone!    Just think, it'll soon be the season of all things pumpkin spice, and I can't wait!    Not to mention, Lindsey will be celebrating her 11th birthday this weekend.   The irony being that she was born during Hurricane Katrina, her 4th birthday we'd planned a trip to the beach...to be interrupted by a hurricane, and this weekend we have an outdoor party planned and...yeah, the remnants of Hurricane Hermine should be moving through our area right about then, ahem.
Academics are going really well this year.   Algebra has been incredibly smooth so far and Olivia got a B on her first test!   She's loving her new science and geography programs, and she seems to really like that she's getting to work independently and set her own schedule. She's even a bit ahead in both subjects.

Lindsey finished up her first unit in medieval history.  We worked our way through the Christians and will be moving on to the West Roman Empire.   I had her read Ivanhoe during this first section, just to get her used to the time frame and what was happening overall.  Although, I had a hard time finding a lot of the recommended books for this first part of the study, I still think it went ok.

Volleyball started this week.  The girls have practice on Mondays & Thursday, with games on Saturday.  They are on separate teams, but their practices are at the same time.   Did I mention that I ended up being one of the coaches?   It's amazing how much volleyball terminology I've forgotten in the last 30 years, ahem.

We are still hitting the gym at least 3 days a week, but usually we shoot for 5.  We're roughly 6 weeks into this and I've finally seem the scale start to move.   I was beginning to get discouraged, but I finally show a 14 pound loss!

I shared our review of the Spiritual Circle Journal for Kids and Teens on the the blog this week.   Pop over and take a look as it's an engaging way to get your kids/teens to be more connected in their devotional time.

  1. Oh I feel your pain. We are having a Family fitness challenge and I am fighting to get to the gym daily. The kids have their activities but it's hard for us parents to find time for ourselves.

    1. Good luck with your challenge! I'm finding if we get up early and go before we start school, it works better for us.
