Weekly Wrap Up - Summer Break Week 7

This summer is just flying by.  There's always a flurry of activity.   Saturday Olivia traveled to Liberty University with her new volleyball team for a clinic with the coaches and players.   This meant I had to get her up by 5:30 in order to get her to the bus pick up.  They worked hard for 8 straight hours (with a lunch break thrown in).   They were an exhausted group when they got back.

Sunday the youth group took over adult service for praise and worship.  Our youth band is really amazing, and then the entire youth group did a dance to "Church Clap".   This was the first time in over a year I got to see both my girls dance and enjoy it....made my heart very happy!   After church the youth group had a cookout and played slip n slide kickball all afternoon.   They had so much fun (until the sunburn kicked in later in the evening).

When we got home from picking the kids up, I went to get something out of the freezer and realized it was a bit thawed.  After further investigation I realized most things were a bit thawed, so I moved everything to the big chest freezer, hoping it was just a glitch.   Unfortunately the repairman came Monday and no, it wasn't a glitch, the compressor in our three year old refrigerator burned out.  We need to replace it...again.

Olivia was at another volleyball camp Monday - Friday from 9am to noon.   After dropping her off Tuesday, Lindsey and I went out to try and find a new fridge.  Unfortunately, nobody local carries the beige/bisque/biscuit appliances in stock, so I have to order one, which means a 14 day wait.  I picked up a dorm refrigerator in the meantime, just enough room to keep lunch meat, cheese and yogurt on hand.

Wednesday the youth group met for dinner at a local pizza place, so Tom and I dropped the girls off and walked next door to have an impromptu date at the Chinese restaurant.   It's the little things ya'll.

Thursday evening was volleyball with the team.   Friday night was two hours of basketball for both girls.    Like I said, it's been a busy week, but good...other than the lack of cold food.

How was your week?   Did you have the horrible heat and humidity where you are?

  1. Heat and humidity has been pretty bad here too, but thankfully my fridge and freezer are still working! At my job it's incredibly hot though (I manage a coffee roastery, so it's kind of pointless to turn on the a/c). Sorry you're having to replace a fridge already!

    1. I worked for a coffee roastery here for a while, until they moved to the Lynchburg VA area.

  2. The heat was bad here. The fridge sounds like a real bummer, but your attitude is great.

    1. Well, I figure getting a bad attitude isn't going to change things other than make the situation more miserable for everyone. Sometimes you just gotta go with the punches.
