Weekly Wrap Up - Goodbye May

We had a pretty full weekend.   Saturday was a combined 18th birthday/graduation celebration for my niece.  On the drive out there we got to see some creepy cloud rotation and then the tornado warning came on the radio.  It was kind of freaky/fascinating all at once.  Thankfully, it never formed into an actual tornado. Sunday after church, we had a nice visit with the in laws, Monday we went out to the farm for a cookout.

Olivia started her job training this week.   She's put in 30 hours of training in a four day period.   Most of the counselors have either worked together before, or go to the same high school so she felt a bit out of the loop at first.  However by Thursday she actually went out to dinner with her team and had a good time.   Next week she starts working!

One of Lindsey's coworkers is expecting a second baby in late June.   The couple already have a little boy, and the dad (the coworker) is so excited about this baby being a girl.  Lindsey's been working on a baby quilt for the family, and finally finished it up and gave it to them this week.

It was really neat, because all of their baby blankets are boy themed (from the first child), so this is the only official "girl blanket".  She did the back in a grey llama print to break up the pink, and the dad happens to love llamas.  They loved it!  Here's a close up of the center patch.
In homeschool news, Olivia has decided she wants to attend a local private college.  We've got her registered to take the SAT's in August, and I'll also be adding a few more classes to her fall line up to round out her transcripts.   Now to get applications completed...

I hope you've all had a good week.

    1. She loves anything to do with babies, and the fact that this big burly guy is so excited about having a girl was just more than she could ignore.

  2. What a lovely quilt. Your daughter is very talented. You all must be excited to know what college is in your daughter's future.

    1. Well, there needs to be a VERY big financial aid/scholarship package in order for her to attend that particular college. Otherwise, it's community college for a while, and I'm fine with that too.

  3. Sounds like a lovely week - except for the tornado scare! - glad that it wasn't serious. The quilt is beautiful and such a great gift! My daughter has chosen community college for her first two years of school and I think it's a great way to transition into college life.
