The public schools here are finishing up their first week of school today. I decided we would start back next week to give us a week to get acclimated before Olivia starts her college schedule the following week. Next week should have more information about our schedule and academics.
Olivia picked up her fair entries and ribbons on Saturday. She was pleased to take 2nd in two categories her first year. I think she plans on entering again next year. It's a good way for her to keep her art skills fresh.
The volleyball issue has taken a few more turns. We found out that the school has actually lied to us (and the other homeschooled students), and has even deleted/altered on-line stats to give the appearance of not having had non-students on their teams. However, I have found another school, further distance, that was happy to add the girls to their team. They started practicing with them this week (M/W/F from 9:45-12:30) and will continue practice next week with the same schedule. Practices are an elongated "try-out" process, so we wont know 100% for sure if they are playing until after that process is completed, but at least they are treating them with respect.
Olviia has spent a lot of time at the farm this week. They had a bull escape on Thursday, getting the bull loaded and moved back home resulted in an knee injury to the lady Olivia works for. This may change some of their fall horse show plans.
Lindsey continues to adjust her babysitting schedule. The co-op that had hired her for childcare had a drastic decline in kids (only 7 total enrolled), so they have withdrawn that job for now pending more enrollment. She has picked up a two day a week gig for a work-from-home mom that will end up being more lucrative than the co-op, and not interfere with her school schedule. She's also picked up a public school child that she'll be watching on days that school is out.

I'm finishing up the week with last minute planning, buying an online math course for Lindsey and working out my own schedule for when we get back to routine.
Have a great weekend!

Glad to hear you found another team for volleyball; I hope they make it!
ReplyDeleteGlad she's keeping on with artwork - those pieces are lovely! We don't start school until after Labour Day, but we are getting prepared. Hope your first week has started out well!
