Weekly Wrap Up - First Week of School

We started back to school this week.   It's Olivia's senior year, and Lindsey's freshman year...neither seems possible.    Let's take a look at how things went.

Monday the husband had a vacation day scheduled.  We took Olivia by the community college and picked up her student I.D. and parking pass.  Afterward we took the girls to a new indoor trampoline park, went out to lunch and then did some shopping.

Tuesday was the first official day of school.  We got up at 7 and went to the gym, then dropped Olivia off at the farm.   Lindsey worked on her school work while I did projects around that house.   Olivia was back home around lunch time, and finally started on her first day of classes.

Once Lindsey finished lessons, she worked on a new sewing project.  She was hired to make pillow covers for a family friend.  They turned out great!

Wednesday morning we were up early to work on lessons early, and then it was out the door to get to volleyball practice at 9:45.  We were back home a little before 1pm and the girls finished their schoolwork into the later part of the afternoon.   Olivia headed off to the gym in the evening with her dad.

Thursday Olivia went to the farm early and Lindsey and I headed off to the orthodontist to get her braces!   She has been very excited about this...until time to leave for the appointment and then the nerves set in.   Ya'll, it took a little over 2 hours to get the braces on, her gag reflex slowed the process a bit.  She was a trooper, but you can tell it was a rough morning.
Friday was another trip across the mountain for volleyball.  I did grocery shopping and ran errands while they were playing ball.   Then it was home to hit the books.

So, this has not been a typical first week, in fact it's not been anything like I'd planned.   I usually try to make our first week back kind of low key, but yeah...life.      Thus far, everyone seems to be enjoying their new classes and have had good attitudes even with the crazy schedule.  Lindsey's favorite class so far is Consumer Science and Olivia's is Consumer Math.

Here's to a more low key weekend!

  1. Phew! You stay busy for sure! The braces adventure is good, just slow. Joseph is counting down to getting his off in the next 6 months. Emma will have a year after that probably with hers still. And then we'll start the next two kids braces...
    Have a wonderful new year!

  2. Aw, that is a long process to put on braces. I'm so sorry her gag reflexes got in the way.

  3. looks like you're all off to a great start to the year! Glad to see that Lindsay powered through the ordeal of getting the braces put on - her smile is lovely! I'm finding the same thing about planning what I hope will be low-key weeks, the calendar fills up anyway!

  4. The pillow looks beautiful! Hopefully the braces will not cause too much trouble.
