7 Feasts: Finding Christ in the Sacred Celebrations of the Old Testament (Book Review)

7 Feasts - Finding Christ in the Sacred Celebrations of the Old Testament is an 8 week Bible study by author Erin Davis.  The book itself is soft cover with soothing blue accents throughout the text.  As the name implies, you'll be learning more about the following 7 feasts: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of the Firstfruits, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement and the Feast of Booths.

The study is broken up into 8 sections, 1 per week with Section 1 focusing on The Cure for Spiritual Amnesia.   Each section starts with an introduction, followed by 5 days of Bible study.  Each day has a "Big Idea" concept, followed by scripture reference, and the authors take on the scripture, and tone for the days study.  Each day has 7-9 pages of reading, but don't let that chase you off.  There's also questions and plenty of room for you to write your answers in those 7-9 pages, so it's not all drudgery and reading.

Interestingly, a lot of people overlook the fact that Jesus was a Jew.  By studying the 7 Feasts, you not only learn about "Biblical history", but you learn about the celebrations that Jesus Himself observed, and get a deeper understanding of what they meant to Him, and how they relate to you.

The layout of this Bible study works well for either a group study or an individual study time.   There are enough discussion questions to bring about engaging conversation.   The author focuses on looking at what you already know, and using that information as a spring board to learn more about the Word.  You then work on putting the pieces all together to form a more clear picture of the Bible as a whole.

I personally like the textured feel of the book cover, the conversational style of the author and the insight into an area that has been widely overlooked in my church circles.
