Weekly Wrap Up - Beginning to Look Like Christmas

Monday was cold and blustery here.  I took the fall decorations down and started to slowly ease into the Christmas decorating.   I changed out my decorative pillow covers, changed my house and garden flags and threw a bit of green & red plaid around the sun porch.   Olivia started her new job at a prestigious horse stable.  There are 27 horses on-site, so this job will keep her busier.   Lindsey was up early to do her school work and then she worked her regular Monday schedule.  My brother came for dinner and then we all headed out to the city Christmas parade.  Lindsey was in the parade for the museum.  Their float was number 98 in the lineup, so it was a pretty lengthy parade.  We were numb by the time we left.

Tuesday Lindsey had a short day of work (the mom is still out on medical leave).  In the afternoon I had to take her to lantern tour practice, give a friend a ride home from practice and then take Lindsey to jiu-jitsu afterwards.  Olivia worked and then went to jiu-jitsu afterwards.  We had a late dinner after everyone got home.

Wednesday was a pretty standard day for the troops.  Olivia is learning so much at her new job!  Lindsey ended up having to go babysit from 4:30-7:30 for the mom who had surgery.  She fixed dinner, got the kids their baths and settled everyone into bed for the night before coming home.  Olivia went to the gym and ended up playing in a spur of the moment volleyball match while there. Later she had to go pick Lindsey up from work, since I was teaching a class at our church.

Thursday was a different type of work day for Lindsey.  The two families she sits for combined into one house.  Lindsey got the 6 year old ready for school and out the door, and then had a 2.5 year old, 1.5 year old and the newborn until about 1:30pm.  The little ones really took a liking to each other, so much so that the 1.5 child threw himself onto the floor and sobbed when his mom came to pick him up.  I'd say it was successful.

The temperatures went into the 60's, so I spend a great deal of time outside working in my flower beds.  I cut a lot of the dead stalks out, and spent time dispersing dried seed heads throughout the gardens to give me little surprises of new colors in various locations in the spring.  The girls had jiu-jitsu again in the evening.

Friday everyone was off work.  Olivia works Monday-Thursday, Lindsey is currently off on Fridays and Tom had a vacation day.  Lindsey has school work, then she's cutting Tom's hair and has her first night of Lantern Tours starting at 5pm.   Olivia is sleeping in (this could be an all day event) then hitting the gym.   I've got errands to run this morning, then hopefully some more yard work.  I'll make a pumpkin pie dip later in the day.   Tom, Olivia and I have a Christmas party to attend at 6:30.

That's about it for our week.  Next week there should be more Christmas decorating photos to share.

  1. This sounds like a great week! We skipped our town's parade this year since it was a super cold night. We've only ever made it a handful of times since I am a wuss when it comes to standing in the cold weather. I always bribe the kids with movies, snacks, and a fire in the fireplace instead.

  2. Sounds like a very busy and successful week. We missed our Christmas parade this year. Life was just to busy being in the Nutcracker.
    Blessings, Dawn
